The NBA has had a salary cap of $58.044 million over the past few seasons
We apparently have 65m locked up for next season. Trading/Amnestying Andrea brings that to a possible 54m. We have almost no FA flexibility. There really isn't a point of amnestying Kleiza, he's an expiring next season.

Also have we picked up Lowry's option yet?

Wow. Last September, Stern was projecting 20% revenue increases from the last full season 2010-2011, and the cap was $58ish mill back then, too. The new BRI formula must be quite favourable to the owners.

yep. the 20% would imply a 61 mil cap. so either the revenue didn't go up that much. or (probably more likely) they changed the other elements in the formula too (besides reducing the revenue share) in a way that's harder to grasp for the players but hugely favors the owners.

it would be interesting to study the actual text of the new CBA (as opposed to second hand info like Coon faq or such). but it's not online.
