I think that's way too much of an exageration.

Pekovic can still kill other team's second units. Getting Gasol adds another dimension that others have already talked about. I also mentioned similar points in your thread.

You play Gasol 32 min, Love 35, and give Pekovic about 30. Run a tight 3 man big rotation. That's easy to do with Beasley and Williams gone.

Pek is 22 with a small salary.
Minor correction: Pek is 26.

But that does matter in terms of upside. Pek is good, but he's not going to get that much better. And you still don't know for sure that he can sustain his recent play over a full season.

Quote:
Its not like Gasol is the missing piece to their title hopes like he was for LA.
The T-Wolves have limited vet experience. They are so young. If they get into the playoffs, they could really use a guy like Gasol, who has been through it all.

Quote:
If theyre going to trade away Williams they should go after a top tier veteran 2/3. Theyre fine in the frontcourt
Assuming one's available.

At this point, the franchise would settle for making the playoffs and being a serious threat to get out of the first round. The quicker the better. The T-Wolves have missed the playoffs the last 7 or 8 years. Just making the playoffs this year would be huge. Also, Kahn NEEDS to re-sign Rubio. It's probably already on his mind. Kahn might feel this move has positive implications for making that happen.

I agree. Too many people think it's all about championship aspirations.... sometimes it's about respectability and playoff momentum.

A fair and balanced league, where all teams can be competitive.

I think they're respected right now. They're currently 17-17 and I can only imagine them getting better as time goes on. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they made it into the post season THIS year.

Of course the T-Wolves stand a chance at making the playoffs. But there is reason to believe Minnesota's chances are better if they make this trade. They also stand a better chance of winning a round if they make this trade.

The 5th and 11th placed teams are within 4 games of each other. So there are 7 teams fighting for the last 4 spots. Not much room for error.

The T-Wolves have to play 6 extra road games during their remaining schedule, because they've played more home games so far.

This trade gives them a better shot at the playoffs, in my opinion. They'd have a top 3, if not the best, big man rotation in the NBA.

LA doesn't really need Dwight if they are going to give up both Bynum and Gasol. What they need is a versatile PG and some wings who can put the ball on the floor and provide energy off the bench.

Bynum and Howard are basically equal when it comes to scoring and when you put Gasol+Bynum together it creates more problems then having Howard in paint by himself when it comes to defense and rebounding.

If LAL still had Odom this would be just perfect for them. Who would be there PF after this trade? Beasley Or Murphy? I still like the trade but it'd make a hole at the 4 spot for the lakers :s

Great deal for Orlando, and potentially a great deal for the Lakers if it works out.

Mark my words, whether it's Murphy or Beasley starting at the 4 they'll fit perfectly with Dwight. Murphy may even become his old self if he gets those open 3s.

Alright guess we wont know unless it ever happens

but who plays 4 and 5, which originally would be Gasol, when Dwight is on the bench or foul trouble?
