Rumor: Love to Boston pretty much a done deal? Melo next?

Take with a massive grain of salt. But Boston building around Rondo/Melo/Love would be interesting.

Quote:
The source, an insider at RealGM.com, said, “The Love deal is pretty much done. I think the fact that Kevin Love is so out and about in Boston is something that Danny wants out there so he can show someone like Melo that he means business. The Melo thing is the one that is on the hush. Melo is the primary target. They need a scorer from the wing position. Cs need to get Love first in order to work one (with) Melo. That’s why Kevin Love is in town, he knows he is headed to Boston. Love is a done deal, the focus now is Melo. He was the primary target. Love opting in on his final year allows the Cs to sign Melo to a long-term deal first. Then work on a team-friendly deal with Rondo and then take care of Kevin. Also, could Tyson Chandler be dealt to Boston?”

The same source revealed that the Boston trip is, in fact, something that was planned with Rondo. “Hearing Rondo and Love talked 11 days ago regarding this trip, on the phone, and that Rondo and him have maintained regular correspondence for the past 27 days,” the source said.

No grain of salt needed. There is clearly a pipeline from minny to boston for star power forwards named kevin.

don't tarnish Garnett's name by comparing him to Love.

This is poppycock. How are they supposedly going to trade for Love without gutting the roster? Also, you think the Minny fanbase has forgotten? They'll shred their front office if he goes to Boston. Not to mention that even with Love there are still much better places for Melo to go (Chicago to join a real contender or Los Angeles for that sweet endorsement cash) and if they did both end up in Boston it would be a train wreck; they both need the ball in their hands far too much and Rondo already has that locked down.

If I'm a Minnesota fan and I know Love wants out, I'd rather see him go to Boston than another WC team tbh.

Green, Bradley, Sullinger, Olynyk + picks......they have decent pieces to give. I do think Minny can do better somewhere else though.

love would be great as a complimentary offensive piece. rondo and melo would handle the ball. melo would be used as a focal point some plays, or as a spacer/secondary offensive play in case the first part of the play fails. It would be one of the greatest offences in the league. Defensively rondo is solid, but with melo and love we'd have to see what happens on that end. Rebounding they'd be ridiculously solid. they'd be an automatic contender. no question.

Melo+love to boston makes a better team than melo to chicago.

they have: 2014 Brooklyn 1st, 2015 Philly 1st, 2015 Clippers 1st, 2016 Brooklyn 1st, 2017 Brooklyn 1st, 2018 Brooklyn 1st whole bunch of second rounders and all of their 1st rounders.
They can certainly offer one hell of a package

To compare one of the greatest power forwards of all time and one of the greatest defensive players of all time to a player who has never been to the playoffs, nor can't play a lick of defence is a travesty. An outrage.

In my opinion they wouldn't mesh as good as you think they would. Melo is a ball stopper and as soon as the ball goes into his hands all ball movement stops. Both Melo and Love are high volume three point shooters which isn't always a good thing. Both of them are also average/below average defenders as well. In the end they would still struggle to make the playoffs in a weak eastern conference.

If everysingle team in the NBA had the capspace with the same roster, Chicago is still the best fit for Melo. Assuming Thibs stays

meh, raps in 4. But seriously I am not scared of that team. No defense at the forward spots whatsoever, and if they go small with melo and the 4 and love at the 5. jsut feed the ball through the bigs

Wow Boston is loaded with assets :O That team would be really interesting if they teamed up Melo + Love + Rondo. It's a weird mix I never thought could ever happen, but I see it working..

Everything would hinge on Rondo's health. Melo/Love would be a disaster defensively imo without Rondo.

Whats hilarious is that after spending 200 million this year, and basicly giving away every first round pick for the next 4 years, Brooklyn is as good as being dead in the water.

Who in their right mind would trade all that for two old stars that are literally playing the last leg of their career..garnet is approaching JO status when it comes to his health and his knees, and pierce is slowly but steadily going downhill. Now they have no picks...so no young tallent coming in, but at the same time, they have nothing to offer trade wise to bring in new blood...looks like they needed that second round sweep against Miami more then we did cause that team, with Dwill about to bring in 22+million over the next three years, is about to be the new NYK when it comes to spending big bucks on a team that can barely compete in-and-or-for the playoffs
