Cavs Rumor: Irving wants out of Cleveland

Quote:
The Cleveland Cavaliers were hoping to be a playoff contender this season around Kyrie Irving, but have been terribly disappointing. The Cavaliers have missed on several draft picks and Chris Grant's job as general manager is in danger.

"Kyrie Irving has been telling people privately he wants out," wrote Chad Ford.

Irving becomes eligible for a contract extension this offseason and will presumably receive a max offer from the Cavaliers. Irving could become a restricted free agent in the 2015 offseason meaning he could not leave outright until 2016.

Ouch. Better hope the owner sends his son to the lottery again this year.

Here's a question, who here would do a Lowry for Irving trade? Just hypothetical....

Based on current contracts? Yes.

Based on if we know we can get lowry long term.. Not so sure. I love the defensive intensity of this team and lowry is a huge part of that. Lowry at point and amir behind him is a strongly wicked defence.

that depends a lot on what irving's max is. i'd rather have lowry at $10-$11 mil than irving at $15 or more, but i don't know what he can be paid. it helps that irving will be a restricted fa.

What a little bitch. Haha It's his 3rd season, if he wants to be elite he needs to take the team on his shoulders, not say he wants out lol. That team should be in the playoffs easily.

well seems as though Cavs organization don't know what they doing.
They draft AB.. sign him to a contract, only to have him sit on the bench, and yes I understand he is not in tip top shape, but how is he going to be while sitting on the bench, why not put him in D-League to get minutes, gain confidence and also get in shape.

Stupid.. and coach Brown sucks.. they had more then enough opportunities to draft the rite pieces

I would rather have a point guard wanting to lead by example and be willing stick with an organization through tough times. I personally feel Lowry fits this mold better than Irving. Does Irving have more upside than Lowry, sure, but I'd rather let the core grow and not mess with it. Hypothetically speaking, I would not trade Lowry for Irving, just because I don't trust Irving's character and drive to lead by example. He seems like a player that will go down the road of becoming a Pre-Madonna and I have had enough of them in all sports.

Kyrie is a better scorer, but Lowry is better in every other facet of a game. I'd say it be much easier to grab a player who can provide that little extra scoring punch we could use (ala Thaddeus Young or Jeff Green), than it would be to find someone who can replicate Lowry's leadership, defensive tenacity, and floor general abilities. Not to mention, I'm sure Cleveland would want multiple first rounders for him, so that'd be giving up a lot of assets.

You are basing your thoughts on imagination
and feeling... not facts.

Irving is WAY over rated.

Look at this years stats, Kyle Lowry literally beats him in EVER single category, except he gets about 17 ppg vs. Irvings 21.5
but Lowry takes about 12 shots a game while Irving takes about 19. If Lowry took the same amount of shots he would be nearer to 20 ppg. Lowry plays INCREDIBLE d, he's become a true leader, and he would cost a lot less.
Irving is injury prone and far from a proven leader in any way.

Have you watched Lowry play lately? It's 2014 bud

ironic since the lowry stats you posted are from last season. lol

lowry is averaging 16.8ppg on 12.4 shots per game.

Hehe, that's pretty hilarious.

Lowry is having a better season than Kyrie, though.

Last years stats? Go home Hansbrough you're drunk.
You are like the Raptors forum police but you're always coming up with some wacky answer to the mystery.

It's obviously not last years stats, I just made a typo. How could he score 11.5 points per game on 12 shots a game? He must have had a really horrible 2013 actually going negative in scoring
