rumor: Ilyasova to Washington for #3 pick

Quote:
According to Sam Amico of FOX Sports, the Washington Wizards and Milwaukee Bucks have “explored” a trade which would presumably send Ersan Ilyasova to the nation’s capital in exchange for the third overall pick in this upcoming NBA Draft.

i know its a weak draft but i'm surprised it would only take ily. i'm guessing their targeting mclemore or oladipo to relace one of jennings or ellis?

Ilyasova would easily be the best player on the Wizards. At least... 16 ppg

If this turned out to be true, it would probably be something like...

Ilya + 15th pick for Ariza + 3rd pick

Milwaukee needs to shed salary to sign Jennings/Ellis

Ugh, you guys, there is not salary being shed. Washington has no cap space unless they amnesty somebody, and that would make zero sense, since none of their bad contracts go beyond next year (Nene is overpaid but not a player you amnesty).

So, if a trade happened, it's probably Ilya AND the 15th pick for Ariza and 3rd pick.

Trade one: Bargnani/Gay for Okafor/Ariza/#3

Trade Two: #3/Gray for Ilyasova

Sign Anthony Morrow

Lowry/MLE/JL3
Derozan/Ross/Morrow
Ariza/Fields
Ilyasova/Amir/Acy
Valanciunas/Okafor/Amir

Yep. I wonder if it could even be Ilya+15 for Nene+3.

Nene would make a ton of sense for the Bucks on both ends of the floor. He wouldn't get abused by every post up true center the way Larry Sanders does. And he would be able to score / shoot, which is also what they need next to Sanders.

On the other hand, the Wizards would get a good healthy young big and some flexibility, and get rid of Nene's contract.

there's a trade thread available for you to act stupid in :mattyd:

washington is gonna get the better of this trade. it's definitely one of those drafts that you're not going to be comfortable drafting in the top 5.

Ellis has already rejected his contract extension, i believe. I really like the attitude, leadership and play of Oladipo. I can see him deep in the race for ROY, if thats a target I think it may be a great move. Wish we could get our hands on Ily though...

I like the idea of Jennings/Oladipo with Oladipo bringing a lot of defense to their backcourt

If Oladipo is the target, Ariza would make perfect sense,
Jennings
Oladipo
Ariza
Henson
Sanders

I really like the potential of that line.

I'll be pretty surprised if Jennings stays in Milwaukee. I have a feeling he'd rather be in a bigger market.

As the washington GM for the mock RF draft, I can guarantee this won't happen. :mattyd:

True, he has been signalling he'd rather be elsewhere. Don't know if the big markets would want him.

I'm sure there are 5-6 bigger markets that might have interest. I read somewhere that Dallas has interest in him. And Orlando which isn't a big market but is higher profile might have interest.

You're forgetting someone.

I think the pick swap and Ilyasova for Ariza makes sense for both teams. WAS gets the 2nd best stretch 4 in the NBA to help spread the floor for Wall, and MIL can finally upgrade their 2/3 positions. I'm not that high on Porter, so I can see why WAS wants to trade the pick. Ilyasova will be a great fit with Wall and Beal. They'd just have to figure out their starting SF/C positions, because they have no starting SF, and Nene isnt reliable to play enough games every year. Okafor is too small to be a starting C, and he's not good enough to be a starting 4 anymore. He'd be a great 6th man backup though, just not at his price tag.

John Wall misses games. He gets hurt often. If you can't be there to play, you can't help your team win. Ilyasova is made out of denser material.
