Roy Possibly Out For The Playoffs?

Quote:
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy has a torn meniscus in his right knee and his status for the playoffs is uncertain.

Roy will miss Monday night's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Wednesday's regular season finale against Golden State on Wednesday night.

He will require surgery and will be out from four to six weeks. But he said he may try to play with the injury in the playoffs because doctors told him it cannot get worse.

Roy is the Blazers' leading scorer with 21.8 points per game. He injured his knee on Sunday when the Blazers played at the Lakers.

The Blazers have clinched a spot in the playoffs, but their opponent for the first round has yet to be determined.

Shit!!

Seriously, that team is cursed! With all their talent it seems like they'll never be able to showcase their true overall talent at full health in the playoffs. Wow!!

Roy with knee problems? Who knew? Oh...wait...

Seriously, I don't like to see this type of stuff happen to good guys, but, if he keeps having knee trouble, the douchey side of me will be secretely laughing my ass off at the other ACGM's (my name is actually meant to be a joke on all of us) who constantly think GMs should have had the wisdom to take Roy in the top 3. I'll especially be laughing at Raptor fans who rip Colangelo for not taking him. Nice guy. Shitty Knees.

Same goes for Blair. His time with knee issues is coming as well.

But he does perform at a consistant level every time he plays, especially when the game is on the line he can step up huge.

But you know its a 50/50 sorta thing between picking Bargnani and Roy and the debate can rage on but one this is for sure, colangelo is sure good for picking healthy players.

Roy is consistent and he is EXTREMELY talented. But he's already missed 54 regular season games during his first 4 years in the league, and now he's potentially out for a post-season, too. So, if this keeps up for a few more seasons, it's going to be difficult for people to keep harping on that pick. At least Bargs has an efficient contract that can be moved. Having said all that, I understand if people think the pick should have been traded or something. That's a more valid criticism of how the pick was used. I just get tired of the "we should have drafted Roy" talk.

P.S.

But from what I can tell, Roy is a good guy, so I hope he gets well. Only part of me is a douche.

Without Roy, Bogut and possibly Bosh first round games will obviously be less exciting..

How do you know? Blair has played every single game of the season so far without any problem. Most rookies this season didn't even play all 82 games.

WOW, Portland is fucked UP!

They need to start looking at the trainers, are they not treating players properly before and after games? I mean how can a team be so devastated by knee injuries alone....

Obviously time will tell, but most bigs eventually have knee issues and he's already had some of his own. Pretty big ones too. IMHO it's only a matter of when. Maybe he can play for a few years and not have any issues with his knees at all, maybe even 4-5 years. But i truely believe he will have problems with his knees.

ya true, but I mean what are the chances they ALL go down for the season. I mean even the coach was injured at one point and to top it off Durant is leading the league in scoring, while Oden is posting pics of his schlong online hahaha, well its not all that bad, they didn't get Hedo.

UPDATE:

Quote:
Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy will undergo surgery on Friday to repair a partial meniscus tear in right knee, it was announced today by Trail Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard. “This was not an easy decision to make,” said Roy. “But, if I’m going to be out there, I want to be contributing. If we’re fortunate enough to advance in the playoffs, having the surgery now gives me the best opportunity to help our team.” Dr. Don Roberts will perform the knee arthroscopy on Friday morning at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, WA. A timetable for Roy’s return will be set following surgery, but he’ll be sidelined for at least the first round series vs. the Phoenix Suns. “This is a setback, but we’ve been overcoming injuries all season long,” said Pritchard. “This is about looking long-term and doing what’s best for Brandon.”

I read somewhere that if Portland advances Roy could return for the 2nd round. The surgery was successful and not that major. Hopefully it's true.
