Exclamation Rookie Rankings: If we could turn back time

Quote:
They say hindsight is 20/20.

Knowing what we know now, for instance, do you think the Grizzlies would still take Hasheem Thabeet at No. 2? And would the Clippers still take Blake Griffin with the top pick, knowing he would hurt his knee and miss the entire 2009-10 season?

Those were the questions that were posed this week as I joined my NBA.com colleagues Sekou Smith and Vince Thomas on their Hang Time Podcast. (Which, by the way, is great and should be a regular download. You can find it on iTunes.) We took turns playing the role of GM, taking into account everything that’s happened since the draft, and making our picks with the advantage of hindsight.

This is how the lottery played out:

1. Clippers (Packham): Tyreke Evans 2. Grizzlies (Smith): Stephen Curry 3. Thunder (Thomas): Blake Griffin 4. Kings (Packham): Brandon Jennings 5. Wolves (Smith): Darren Collison 6. Wolves (Smith): Omri Casspi 7. Warriors (Thomas): DeJuan Blair 8. Knicks (Packham): Ricky Rubio 9. Raptors (Smith): Taj Gibson 10. Bucks (Thomas): Jonny Flynn 11. Nets (Packham): James Harden 12. Bobcats (Smith): Jonas Jerebko 13. Pacers (Thomas): Ty Lawson 14. Suns (Packham): Terrence Williams

Taj Gibson has been a solid player on CHI, wouldn't mind him at all especially if Bosh is leaving.

Ya Derozan keeps on getting snubbed, I would pick him over a couple of the guys on that list (wtf Williams?), anyways he's a project, in the next 2-3 years he should be a stud and solve our scoring problem at SG/SF....and we ARE the Raptors remember, dont expect much love from them anyways.

We barely give Derozan a chance, with Bargnani chucking up 30 shots a game and all.

I think DeMar should be on the list. Most forget that he only had a year in college and ranked as having one of the biggest potential in the draft, after Blake Griffin, in scouting reports.

Give me a break .... DD was a starter for almost the complete season and has had plenty of time to improve. He's becoming a sericeable forward, but he's clearly not a star in making. I like the kid, because he works hard, good attitude, willing to learn, etc

A player like Jennings would of completely changed this team .... we would probably be fighting for for a spot between 2nd to 4th, instead of 8th.

6 shots per game compared to jennings 15 - 16 shots per game is barely any time to improve, not only that, jennings is given the ball while derozan is the last choice.

Derozan will become a slashing stud on this team, plus he's a gym rat

It's a rookie wall he need to overcome; look at Sonny he was a rookie last season and look at what he provide us ^_^. Also it was smart to start Demar so when come training camp when he's going train hard this summer and he shine. If only we could make it to playoff and let Demar have a taste then o'boy this kid will be a stud. Will Demar and Sonny be our next VC and T-Mac; only time will tell?

Hay, don't get me wrong ... I like DD, but I really don't think he has the capability of Jennings. I would swap them in a second.

I would still prefer them being on the same team.

These guys are idiots. The article is talking about hindsight, yet they have Blake Griffin at 4th. If we talking about hindsight thus far all we know about Blake is we are lucky if he plays a full season in the NBA.

My only concern with Demar is that Jay Triano is his coach.

If Jay's idiocy doesn't get in his way, Demar could be great.
