ronnie brewer to memphis

Ronnie Brewer has been been dealt by Utah to the Grizzlies in exchange for a protected first round pick, according to a report from Ross Siller of the Salt Lake Tribune.

Utah would move under the luxury tax under such a scenario and also free up minutes for other wing players.

Damn, incredible pickup for Memphis. Another young, uber-athletic wing player with lockdown defensive abilities. We didn't have the picks, makes me wonder what it would have taken for us to snag him. Fuck he would have looked good in a Raptors shirt. Fuck fuck fuck.

Giving up a first rounder pick in this draft makes me cringe, but equal trade, I am impressed with memphis

This is a weak draft, there's highway robbery going on everywhere today.

Bingo. We didn't have the luxury of taking on that contract for a draft pick. Memphis has room. Nice insurance policy in case Rudy Gay bolts.

Solid pick up no doubt. Gotta love that move by the Grizz, they have a very solid team.

This is clearly the most underrated move of the deadline. I guess the Jazz really want that extra cap space :|. Brewers going to be a nice fit for MEM, though I doubt hes there next year.

Deron responds:
Quote:
Deron Williams said he had nothing good to say about the trade and that this is why he signed 3 year extension. Wow. Double wow.

Deron said Ronnie was his little brother and that he thought Jazz would try to get better at the deadline not worse.

Deron Williams: "I think if we’d make a trade it would be something a little different than that...."

"...You look at all the teams that are getting better around the West and we essentially get worse, if you ask me.”

Since he was so frustrated, Deron was asked if the trade affected his long-term thinking about the Jazz.

He didn't hesitate in answering: “That’s why I signed a three-year deal.”

Williams said the flight from New Orleans to Oakland yesterday was "probably one of the quietest flights we've had."

wow... that could have been a team-killing trade.
the mental game is just as big as the physical.
they were already fragile IMO, and this could push them over the edge.

It's ridiculous, man. As an owner would it not behoove you to be aware of the relationships that exist between your players? On the same token would it not behoove an owner to run such a critical decision by the team's franchise player, given his relationship with the dude being dealt? Poor management, piss poor. Memphis is laughing.

Business is business. If Deron is that fragile, and needs his BFF to run a team with him and be successful, I wouldn't consider him a franchise player. Thats why I am glad we didn't rade POB and Banks for Vujacic (horrible contract) and Powell who is reported to be Bosh's best friend. At the end of the day, the NBA is a business, and money overwhelms feelings.

Stop being a whiny little girl Deron. You got Sloan to be friends with. Or come to toronto and be friends with Bosh and Co. for we're filled with high character players.
