Rondo/Green for Westbrook/Perkins was discussed this summer

WTF is going on? lol

Following the 2011 NBA Playoffs, the Celtics offered Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green to the Thunder in exchange for Russell Westbrook and Kendrick Perkins, according to sources.

Oklahoma City was not interested in the offer.

The two teams completed a trade in February where Perkins and Nate Robinson were shipped to the Thunder in exchange for Green and Nenad Krstic. Perkins subsequently signed an extension with Oklahoma City.

lmao ye i saw this, I just found it weird that they just traded perkins and wanted him back. but jeez they must really not like rondo or something

Shifty.py 11-30-2011 03:11 AM

That is not half as weird as Orlando taking back Turkoglu

And while Rondo may be better than Westbrook, having a legit centre is way better than getting back Green for whom there is no role anyway

Westbrook is miles ahead of Rondo. Not only are his stats better, but he's also younger and has had less talent on his team the last couple years. :cookie:

they are polar opposites. hard to judge.

I really don't like chucker PGs but i have to accept westbrook is extremely talented, has a great physique and is fun to watch. I would rather have rondo running my team.

Agreed, I think alot of it is the mental game, Rondo really has a big heart on the court.

yep, rondo has great heart and spirit for the game. Ultimate competitor.

Oklahoma shouldn't do this deal, but seeing how little Perkins was used in the playoffs I can understand why they'd think about it... but I'd rather have Westbrook going forward, nothing against rondo.

Chemistry-wise I wonder if this wouldn't have been a good fit though for both squads....

OKC rids themselves of a selfish PG who was taking away shots from KD and gets the ultimate distributor and another killer defender. They also get Green back who worked very well with KD and who's scoring role would increase without Westbrook there.

BOS gets the dynamic scorer that they're apparently looking for to take some pressure of Pierce and gets back Perkins... who they sorely missed.

Not a crazy deal by any means IMO.

Chemistry wise I don't think it's a great deal. All outward signs point to rondo being a problem in the locker rooqm, imo. you never hear much about it, but they've been way too eager to part with a productive young player. that should be a red flag to potential landing spots for him.

i seriously doubt it's a personality problem. I think it will be his lack of scoring.

dat jumpshot

He's about as "team-oriented" as you can get based on what I've seen.

I'm not sure where all the "locker room problem" stuff came from but I'd be willing to wager that it's overblown to say the least.

Now Westbrook... HE's a guy I could see being a problem.

Yep. I could see that.

Although with no Perkins and no Rondo I think BOS's defense would take a HUGE step back.

He honestly reminds me a bit of Marbury and Francis.

Uber-talented guard who seems more concerned about getting his own game off rather than doing what's best for the team. Seems like a bit of a sulker too.

Hmmm, haven't heard many bad things about him.

I think alot of this stems from last years playoff series with the mavs. He took alot of shot on bad percentages with little passing, which is obviously an amplified issue with Durant on your team. I kinda get the sulky attitude from him also though.

I'm talking out of my ass some for sure... don't really have anything to back it up other than what I've noticed in games.... it's just a feeling that I have about him.
