Celtics Rondo for Curry has been discussed

Quote:
The Warriors and Celtics had trade talks involving Rajon Rondo for Stephen Curry in December, but it was Golden State that decided not to do the deal.

Boston has looked for several trades involving Rondo since the end of the lockout and continue to shop him aggressively, according to sources.

NBA - Superstars Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, Rajon Rondo could be traded - ESPN

If im GS im keeping Curry, and maybe trading ellis, they need a bigger SG, even tho Ellis is a beast.

The warriors are probably a little bit afraid of the fragile wheels on curry.

Why are the celtics desperately trying to trade Rondo? Curry won't lead a bunch of vets to a championship.

If Curry's ankle is good I think it's a great trade for the Celts TBH.

Curry's a smart player and he can flat-out SHOOT it. With him, Allen and Pierce they'd be DEADLY from 3.

GS might benefit too from adding some perimeter D. Rondo doesn't need shots either and is good at feeding shooters.

i really don't get why they want to trade Rondo THIS badly. He is a great young PG who plays stellar D. Just can't shoot

What Rondo trade scenario hasn't been discussed? Like seriously, it seems like the Celtics will do anything to get him out of town.

Wow. I would love to know what they clash about.... guy plays D, runs the offense and is unselfish to a fault. Weird....

I'd still give them Jose and our pick (or Ed) for him in heartbeat.

I'd easily give them ed and jose..... the pick and jose seems like it could be either good or bad value, but I'd do it. I might even do all three if push came to shove!

Have you had your head in the sand for the last 6 or 7 years?

This is why he dropped in the draft, that's why his teammates hated him in his rookie season, this is why they're looking to trade him...

Dude is uncoachable, has a bad attitude, thinks quite highly of himself, has a temper (I believe he threw a water bottle through a TV in the locker room when Doc tried to give him some advice), is a bad teammate who points fingers and blames others for his on court mistakes, etc.

Really? I thought he dropped in the draft because he couldn't shoot worth a lick and teams weren't sure that he had enough to make it at the next level.....

The reality of the situation is this: We're not getting Rose, DWill or Paul. We MAY have the chance at a PG just below that tier who's won a ring and is a stellar defender, competitor and distributor (and he's still fairly young).

I take my chances on a guy like that in a heartbeat... warts and all. What I've seen from him on the court is what matters. I'm sure that Anthony Carter is a swell guy and a coach's dream but talent is talent... and Rondo has WAY more.

Yeah, great comparison. Anthony Carter or Rondo...duh. Rondo is not going to be replacing our 36 year old 3rd string PG.

I don't care how much talent he has, although I actually prefer a PG who doesn't have Shaq like FT numbers...bringing in a guy like him at the price the Celts would be asking would prove disasterous for a young rebuilding team like the Raps. Not only in the assets we'd be forced to dole out, but the effect he would have in the locker room. And I'm sure you will take him warts and all after what you've seen, but you don't think if a guy like Doc Rivers who has played and coached in the NBA for nearly 30 years, Danny Ainge who's seen and done it all in the NBA and three future HOF teammates can't get through to him and are ready to wave the white flag that he's ever going to change.

Ripping on Rondo for his FTs is weak given everything else that he brings to the table. Maybe you're OK with going foward with Bayless at the PG spot... I'm not. I love Jose but I know that he's not in our future plans. Rondo is a clear upgrade at that spot and fits in with our coach's defense-first mentality. Not sure how it gets any better than that.

Players can change when they're put in a new situation. Happens all the time. I know that quite a few of us were skeptical about Beasley because of the rumours about him but as far as I know he's been great for Minny. Bargs sucked donkey balls for YEARS on the defensive end and had the intensity of a wet blanket until Casey came in and reached him.

When you have the chance to grab solid talent at arguably the most important position on the floor you take it.

whatever it takes to get rondo, i'd consider it. i don't know if their willingness to trade him is due to them having old bodies and a lack of assets, or because of maturity issues. his age and contract are a definite plus in my books.

Yes, going forward Bayless is our only option....*sigh*

Beasley wasn't as destructive a teammate, he likes to smoke pot and not suprisingly, he's been caught doing it again while in Minny and they are now looking to trade him.

How did a change of scenery work for Isaiah Rider?

Listen, just because you have a hard on for a guy doesn't mean you shouldn't try and objectively look at the situation. Are you prepared to gut the roster and give up say JV and or/DD, an unprotected lottery pick or two and Barbosa? For a guy that's going to potentially come in and fued with the coach, anger and alienate his teammates and isn't even an elite player at his position. It's a gamble I wouldn't be prepared to take.

Rondo is one player i'd be willing to look past attitude and chemistry for. he's a top 5 PG, who's young and full of potential. IMO, he's a game changer, and is worth the risk.
the sad truth is that we stink. We could have the greatest chemistry in the world, but it doesnt mean squat if we lose 50 games. build a team around him and allow him to grow into a leader role and i think he loses that chip on his shoulder and turns that corner into a very good teamate.
