Rondo could be had, for 2 unprotected firsts

Quote:

Rajon Rondo could leave the Boston Celtics in unrestricted free agency in 2015, but he could possibly be acquired now via trade.

Danny Ainge's asking price for Rondo are two unprotected first round picks, according to Sam Smith of NBA.com.

Teams cannot trade first round picks in consecutive seasons.

they already got like 10 first round picks in the next 5 years, right? :mu:

MBailey85 02-17-2014 03:36 PM

The Knicks should go after him if they're serious about upgrading at PG.

The Knicks IMO would be a solid fit for Rondo. All their players, outside of Tyson, want to do is shoot while all Rondo wants to do is pass. Can see him working out well with Melo.

Rudy-T 02-17-2014 04:26 PM

But Knicks dont have to many picks.

Alex 02-17-2014 04:31 PM

2014 first, and a knicks first, plus lowry?

Thug 02-17-2014 04:35 PM

I would stay away from Rondo until he proves he can still play at a high level consistently.

Forget giving up two unprotected first round picks for a fragile point guard coming off a major knee surgery.

This. His injury may or may not effect him. Players with history of knee injuries always go downhill. I.e JO, Rose, Roy even Wade.

I've always said this, knee injuries are the absolute worst for athletes. Especially basketball players having to run up and down on such a hard surface. Rarely if ever are they the same player longterm.

Toby 02-17-2014 06:04 PM

A PG with a bad knees, for 2 unprotected 1st round picks?

Don't mess with Danny Ainge, that dude is crazy.

Not sure, but imo it's knees.

TORaptor4Ever 02-17-2014 06:57 PM

Uhhh.... WTF? "Fragile"? "Bad knees"?

Rondo has been extremely durable and is as tough as they come. And he's relatively young... not on his last legs like Nash. He partially tore his ACL. He's nearly back at full strength right now and his play reflects that.

Some of you are blowing this WAY out of proportion. His game isn't like Westbrook's or Rose's which is based on explosive athleticism.

Assuming we traded for Rondo...

It would be wiser to send Lowry to a third team to get something for him, rather than tossing him to Boston, who might then use the birds rights to re-sign him. That would be a huge kick in the nuts. Lowry + 2 firsts for Rondo? No fucking way.

I'd much rather just keep Lowry. But...

If we were going to do it, send Lowry to the Lakers for their 2014 pick. Then send that Laker's pick along with one of ours for Rondo.

Sounds like Rose 4 months ago. Different games like you said, but still. Any knee injury that requires a player to sit for 9 months can never be a good thing, don't care how old he is.

Rose is his own case. He's certainly not the norm.

I could point to an opposite extreme and bring up Shaun Livingston. Kid tore EVERYTHING in his knee and has come back nicely. And he's not half the player that Rondo is.

He also isn't half the player he could have been lol.

It was a ligament injury so gotta be careful with those ofc, however many here are blowing it out of proportion.

jeffb 02-17-2014 07:41 PM

The only good thing about Rondo is he under contract for only two more seasons. If he blows his kne out again it's not like he got 4yrs remaining on his deal. He's worth the risk i suppose, even though i still say he'll have knee issues in the future.

LET'S GO RAPTORS!!!!! 02-17-2014 08:02 PM

If Rondo is here instead of KL then DD has to be more reliable from 3 cuz if not then then opposing teams would just pack the paint.
