I'm hoping the Lakers sign him, Grant Hill and O.J. Mayo.

Nash/Blake
Bryant/Mayo
World Peace/Hill
Gasol/Scola
Bynum/Murphy

and to add insult to injury... or injury to amnesty, it looks like Scola just injured himself

Scola hurt his right knee tonight. Not many details yet. Only reports available in Spanish @cabboficial (Argentina National Team Twitter)

Scola made a wrong move and forced the joint of his right knee. He has pain on the inner part. More info tomorrow in Buenos Aires.
This shortened season claims yet another victim.

Well, a number of teams will be praying that the Mavs keep enough cap space to pick him up, because an amnesty rule that relates to partially guaranteed contracts applies to Scola. When a contract is partially guaranteed, the lowest allowable amnesty bid has to cover the remaining cost of the partially guaranteed year. In Scola's case, his final year is worth a little over $11 million but only 1 million is guaranteed. So the lowest bid has to cover $10+ million spread out over the 3 years left on his contract. It works out to about 3.4 mill per year.

A team needs that 3.4 mill in cap space to bid on him. As of now, that eliminates almost the entire league, because teams with cap space have been committing to deals with FAs. If there is no bid, Scola will clear waivers and could be on his way to the Heat, Lakers, Spurs, OKC....probably an elite team, since money is not an issue. At least if he's in Dallas he's on a cap space team that still has a several holes, and it's not really a case of the rich getting richer through no work of their own.

the rockets GM is off his nut!!

he is totally obsessed with getting a star, pretty much at any cost. Scola is a really nice player. Has so many ways of scoring, no huge weaknesses. His athleticism ain't great but it doesn't seem to really hurt him. I like him a lot. I would sign for him for 2yrs, 15mill, no problem.

then look to trade Bargs + DD for that SF we all want!

Who is we?

& who exactly do you expect us to get with Bargs & DD?

I say we trade or amnistie Amir or Klieza & we sign Scola.

Scola is still a nice player but he slipped a fair bit last year I thought. Still a solid vet, and if we could get him for lowest possible (3.4 mil someone said?) that would be a good deal. Doesn't really make any sense on this team though.

He's aging now. Imagine if he came into the NBA in 2002 instead of 2007. He would have made a huge impact by now.
