so for all the guys that dont want to look at championship rings, then look at career winning percentage.
Duncan, by a mile.

umm...6 years actually....and Robinson averaged over 15 ppg over the 6 years he played with Duncan......it was at the end but he still produced...he had 21.6, 15.8, 17.8, 14.4, 12.2 and 8.5 respectively....but that was also because Duncan was getting more touches than Robinson.....

robinson never came back the same after the injury that landed the spurs duncan.

for me, it's duncan without a doubt. the way he controls the offence is simply amazing. his offensive arsenal and defensive capabilities go unmatched.

I like Duncan, mostly because he can actually use the glass.

Why can't NBA players use the window more often?

Barkley and Malone are a close second.

Barkley took over games and if it weren't for Jordan would have probably 2 or 3 rings by by now...

& Malone would have had 2 rings if not for Jordan...

I personally can't compair teams, Duncans Teams faced they didn't play the Bulls, as opposed Barkley & Malone facing Jordans teams in a 7 game series...Duncans Teams would loose everytime against the Bulls, just like everyone else, so if thats the case I look at the body of work for each power forward & not how many championships they have one...

Jordan's Bulls couldn't beat the Pistons, Celtics and even the Lakers until they were old and broken down, so they didn't beat everybody else...

Because Jordan didn't know how to win then but once he did figure it out, you can't deny that there was no other team winning the championship while he was around I mean even the Rockets got to win 2 when Jordan was on his short retirement....If Jordan didn't retire those 2 years The Dream would not have won any championships also!

Jordan won because the Larry's Celtic, Isiah's Pistons and Magic's Lakers all got old, not because he suddenly figured out how to win.

And he came out of retirement the year Rockets won and Orlando swept them in the Conference Finals.

Eww Jordan was off playing baseball for a year & halph...You must not like Jordan, good luck with that...

I don't need you to tell me Jordan's history when I did a history report on him in school...But thank you for teaching me more of what I already know.

jordan was suspended

the fact of the matter is jordan didn't win against the prime competition of the 80's. you can't call jordan the greatest if you won't give duncan his due.

Duncan is the best PF ever

Surprised people are mentioning Barkley in the debate. I have Duncan, Malone, Garnett as definitely better than him... and Pettit while I didn't see him play, has a mighty impressive resume and reputation among the people who have, and his playoff record and stats back it up

Barkley is probably the clear 5 above Dirk

Whats with the "Jordan" shit? He didn't win, his team did. And when he left, they damn near almost did it again without him except they had a hole in his position, had there been a decent guy at the 2, they would have won again.

The Bulls were not all Jordan, in fact they operated much better when he just played team ball. Amazing coach with a very clever system, and great fundamental players.

The Suns and the Jazz just wearnt as good. Period.

Bingo.
its funny how theres so much talk about Duncan having the Admiral... (even if he had him at the back end of his career).
what about Jordan having Pippen during his prime? Pippen could be called the best sidekick to ever play with... yet no one mentions the effect he had on Jordan when they played together. Jordan never won without Pippen, did he?
so when everyone talks about how Jordan made Pippen... why cant it be reversed? why cant anyone argue that Pippen made jordan the dominant winner he is today?
Im sick of everyone sayinng how godly this guy is and that he was unbeatable. it wasnt him. it was the bulls system - starring him.

All teams get old eventually.
The Bulls beat the best the league had to offer at that time.
Dominating an entire decade is nothing to sneeze at.
It was what it was.

Acie, Jackson, Doc, SJ to a certain extent, they're all smart guys. So every now and then, I get a bit fooled reading these MJ threads, and start thinking maybe Jordan wasn't so great. Maybe it was the officiating, Pippen, his teammates, his competition.

Then I go to youtube and find some game footage. Or pop in the Bulls dvd set I own with all the old playoff games.

And I am quickly assured, that Michael Jordan, was by far and away the best basketball player of all time. The best TEAM basketball player of all time. Sure he dominated the ball in his younger years, but when MJ was in his prime and winning championships, he was easily the best. He had a midrange game which was unparalleled. He made the right decision, over and over, and over again.
Watch an old game and look at how many times he uses pass fakes. That doesn't happen if you can't pass. It doesn't happen if you don't pass.

MJ is and forever will be the King.

One thing that has always bugged me about Duncan, is his insensate, childish whining. Although he's put that in check since he got ...i forget his name... suspended.

Joey Crawford.

As for MJ - his problem is that the invention of hyping the individual player happened with him fully in collusion, so that even though he was a nice team player, so much of his personality, and so much shit that surrounded him said otherwise, and that's what way too many players with talent picked up on and emulated.

One of the things that stands out is Collins quoted as saying he just told the other four players to get out of the way and get the ball to Michael. That didn't take on a life of it's own for Jordan himself, but it did for other players and coaches to come. Didn't Lenny even use it a bit in regard to Vince? It became a big part of his legacy that is hard to separate from the rest.
