Knicks Report: Knicks eyeing Jackson to replace Thomas

Ugh .... talk about a tough first gig for Mark Jackson. Ballsy move for him being a first time coach and for the Knicks to go with someone with no headcoaching experience.

According to a report in the New York Daily News, Walsh has targeted former-Knick point guard and current television analyst Mark Jackson to take over from Isiah Thomas as coach of the New York Knicks.

Few players can boast as much New York-credibility as Jackson. The native of Brooklyn was drafted by the Knicks with the 18th overall pick in the 1987 draft and spent parts of six seasons with the team. Prior to the NBA, Jackson manned the point for New York-based St. John's University, playing a key role in the team's Final Four run in 1985.

Jackson is reportedly close to Walsh, dating back to the days when Jackson was starting point guard for Donnie Walsh's Indiana Pacers.

Walsh has previously stated that he has a three-year plan to bring the Knicks back to respectability. Jackson has no previous coaching experience, but would be expected use those three-years as on-the-job training.

There has to be something in the NY water or maybe it's that nuclear power plant close to the city that makes them all retarded.

Why would a struggling team that has tons of money get Jackson for a coach... didn't they just fired former player turned coach?

How about getting respected proven and still young coach for a change... it surely cannot be that difficult...

Jackson always came off as the dumbest link in that espn trio to me, like their Kenny Smith.

Though really, god himself couldn't make the Knicks roster work next year.
