Nope, the Cap is i believe 59Mil. You can go over the cap in certain instances, but the luxury tax is set at around 70Mil. Once you go after that 70Mil you start paying taxes on every dollar you spend.

BTW, shocking that Dallas nearly doubled the Lakers in the last 10yrs in luxury tax payments at 150Mil.

And NY spending the most at 195Mil in the last 10yrs is just laughable. What have they accomplished in that time extactly?

What if the team is unable to pay the extra if they go over 70mil? What are the consequences? Also, who's responsible of paying? The owner?

The owner i would think since they're responsible for paying everyone's salaries.

Didn't we extend Carter and Davis and a couple others including MoPete and Alvin in the summer of 2002 and wasn't that the year we signed Hakeem?

Ah yes. I forgot about Hakeem and Alvin, and was mostly thinking about 2003 when the roster was gutted, but we still payed for those two. I think there were still others like Murray and Stewart on the payroll as well. I should have just been happy to have forgotten.

team management efficiency = (number of championships + (number of NBA finals appearances * 0.9) + (number of conf finals appearances * 0.7) + ... ) / (Team Luxury Tax Total + 1)

if someone has time to kill you're welcome to calculate this for all NBA teams but I bet SAS will be on the top and NYK will be at the bottom. DAL should be somewhere near the bottom.

This parameter is basketball management efficiency. Obviously, team earnings is real parameter for owners (unless you're Mark Cuban).

OKC should definately go over the tax to keep their players if their under now. It wouldn't be that bad would it, considering teams like Minnesota and Milwaukee are over the tax and have no chance of winning a championship? The one team who did make there team from greedy ass stars is going to lose it because they can't afford it, the hell kinda CBA is this.
