Ray Allen's name comes up in trade talk quite often... he doesnt really owe the Celtics any loyalty. Its just like with Calderon say we keep him and when he's a fa decides to go to somewhere else can we really blame him?

I hate the heat so im sad to see a player that i respect so much there it'll be hard wanting them to do well. If im not mistaken he took a lot less money to go to a team he'd have a really good shot at ring with...sound familiar raptor fans?

I don't particularilly disagree with you. I mean it basketball may not be worse than other sports when it comes to glory hunting, sellout athletes, but it sure looks that way given the high profile players that are doing it. Even everyone's once favorite Steve Nash. I think he's a good guy, but the move to the lakers is well just a bit lame. This whole thing about legacies is so dumb anyways. the concept of leaving a legacy has taken on such an empty meaning. ooh and I like your line about fake rings SJ. well played.

soccer has been almost totally ruined coz it started from a place where loyalty was a huge thing to mercenaries now. Bball has always been a business but the game love its stories and personalities as well.

I'm surprised Ray went to the heat, i really am. All that hate for the heat in the locker room, which you know was there, for motivation, 2 years in a row in the play-offs! And he just goes to that team.
Like you say, there are a lot of team oriented guys in soccer for sure. Every team has its set of home grown talent that almost bleed the team colours. Most of the players that put in their transfer requests seem to be imports who don't have that connection to the team and are in it only for themselves. Fernando Torres is the perfect example. guy sucks for 2 seasons yet insists he's champion's league material. It's a joke, but it's almost expected. The bigger suprises are when local players make ill advised switches i.e. Owen to United. That didn't sit well with a lot of people as i'm sure you know.

The length and the amount offered to J. Crawford was too much. They overpaid for him. I guess they conceded they couldn't get Allen anymore. There's a good chance he's going to the Heat but I'm waiting for a more reliable source to comment on the matter. It's most likely the Heat or Celtics.

a player like gerrard almost moving to chelsea was also a big sign of the times. Changed my opinion of him forever, (not that i dislike him or anything.) Never woulda happened in the 70s, 80s or even 90s.

I think i remember him coming out afterwards and saying something like he would have regretted making the change had it happened and that he was much happier staying with liverpool. still the fact that he even considered it is pretty crazy and a sign of the times for sure.

Fucks sakes, get a barf bag then. Allen helped create these mega teams when he, KG, Pierce formed the first big 3 - which they won the title. So what he goes to Miami - kinda figured he would tbh, the open looks will be ridiculous plus he doesn't like Rondo plus Boston just signed Terry. Great move as a player.

Now Lewis has gone to meet them as well, if Lewis can regain some of his form the Heat will be even tougher. He'll most likely sign there for the vet min since he has that big cheque already plus Ray mentored him, the Heat just pretty much locked up another title. I believed both would go to Miami in another thread - so far I'm 50% right

Every major dynasty had several all stars to carry the team, Boston, Detroit, Lakers, even the Bulls had Jordan/Pippen/H.Grant then Jordan/Pippen/Rodman and a lot of great role players.

Like it or not the Heat are the next dynasty and everyone will hate them except the City they're in and a few scattered ardent fans.

meh, Allens Bopston wins were a bit more organic to me...this business of just stacking teams now, with FA's controlling the league sucks.

And I'm sorry guys, the bulls were built over 7-8 years, not assembled in 3 days of free agency.

Nothing new on Ray Allen. He's back from Miami and is deciding. No plans to visit Memphis/Minnesota, though they & Boston still on list.

The answer is easy for Ray, go to the team without his arch-nemesis, Rajon Rondo.
