yep. hopefully that inspires some other big name talent to go in. Didnt the TNT guys say LeBron said he could dunk higher then D12 did tonight? They should just keep raising it with those 2 til one of them cant do it :P

The first round was an absolute crock. The finals were kind of interesting, but based on the dunks of the first round I don't even think Nate deserved to be in the finals.

Nate gets small-man points - I'm pretty sure my sister could have dunked the ball if she jumped off of Wilson Chandler. Dwight Howard is just a crowd pleaser; his dunks are weak and especially for a guy his size. I mean I know it's a show but come on, a fucking telephone booth? That just boils down to him having to use gimmicks because he's not confident that his dunks can carry him through.

Hopefully Lebron can inject some life into this pathetic excuse for an event like Vince did in 2000. If I had to rank tonight's three marquee events (skills, 3pt, dunk) the dunk off would be third. Easy.

i dont know if its just me but i think rudy fernandes got totally FUCKED by the judges in the first round... He actualy came out with some creative dunks that the other gimmiky idiots didnt... if nate robinson gets short points then rudy should get white points lol... white man can jump. honestly though, probably the least athletic guy there, and rudy came out with actual DUNKS... not some fucking props that had to be prepared a month before hand.... this event is becoming a joke. just dunk the ball and no more props

maybe if he didnt miss that dunk so many times i could see an arguement, but im sorry, you miss that many times you better put your whole body thru the rim, rip it down, and throw it thru the stadium roof to get a 10.

Till they fix up this weekend, I think this is the last time I am ever watching it.
Absolutely boring.

I don't really understand the "tried too many times" argument. Rudy's dunk was not easy and he was held back by some poor passing from Pau...he got it up and in within the rules and should have been scored accordingly. I would rather see someone try a challenging dunk 100 times than watch someone put it down with two hands in a way we`ve seen time and time again.

LBJ will add some spice and he won`t need to worry about traveling at all.

I think that Howard was very OVERRATED, he didn't deserve two 50s in the first round

Rudy did a good contest, I liked that dunk in honour of Fernando Martin (1st Spanish in the NBA in 1986, but he came back to Spain the next year. He died in an accident in 1989 when he was going to a game) nd the second one was hard but it deserved more than a 42 when that dunk of JR Smith got the same points.

i watched it this morning with my breakfast. Fast forwarding the commercials made it easy to watch.

I don't get all the hate. I was pretty entertained.

Robinson's two final dunks were amazing. IMO, some of the better ones i've seen.

Dwight's two last dunks sucked. Most of Dwight's dunks sucked.

I loved Nates dunk over Howard. Using your opponent as a prop? Brilliant.
Dwight was a really good sport though.

Come on guys, it wasn't the best dunk contest ever but it was still pretty entertaining. The first round was weak apart from Rudy's second dunk, but the final round had some pretty nice dunks. Howard's off the side of the backboard dunk was amazing. Looks easy but i don't think people appreciate how hard that is do. And needless to say, a 5' 8" guy clearing a 7 footer for a tomahawk dunk is pretty impressive.

Kind of feel bad for Rudy. I thought his marks were too low, but yeah - it always hurts when it takes so many chances to perform your dunks.

and my prior post was too hard on Dwight. I thought the foul line and higher basket dunks missed the mark, otherwise he did a nice job. He brought some excitement that's for sure (the whole phone booth thing). And letting Nate use him was rather gentlemanly.

All in all, i thought the contest was great. and Nate was totally deserving of the win (this time at least. lol.)

Especially the backwards dunk of his own lob (the first of the final). Both my wife and i let out a loud WOW when we watched that one.

what they should do is have a fundamentals practice and quiz.... it would be funny, the contestants would have to explain a rule, then execute a basketball motion.

It would be over in 5 minutes.

Nate's backwards dunk off the lob was one of Dee Browns from '91.
Rudy's dunks really reminded me of Rex Chapman, yeah he got hosed.

All i can say is howards first round 50+50 was a joke. Those "judges" already said to themselves that howard was going to the finals. Even the comentators were saying howard getting 2 50's was a joke.

Howard = Joke in this thing
