Default Players you'll miss from the latest era

Just thinking about all these legends and all the great memories they showed us that we probably take for granted...it will be a sad day when these guys retire. Definitely an unbelievable generation of players.

Who will you miss the most when they retire in the next 1-2 years?

Kobe - Arguable all-time best Laker, HOF

KG - All those loyal and dominant years in Minni, ring in Boston, HOF

Allen - Best shooter ever in his prime IMO when he was a Sonic, was so fun to watch, ring in Boston/Miami, HOF

Dirk - all-time best Mav, best shooting big in history, ring was icing on cake, HOF

Pierce - thought would retire a Celtic, one of their best, ring, HOF

Nash - Best Canadian player ever, one of the greatest passers ever, HOF

Carter - Had a shot to be one of the greatest wings ever, was a household name in the NBA, best Raptor ever
Billups - All the playoffs success in Detroit, Mr.Big Shot, ring

Duncan - Arguable best PF of all time, 4 rings, started a dynasty

Fisher - Winning and clutch player, NBPA Union president

Ginobili - Part of Spurs dynasty, one of the greatest international players

Rashard Lewis - Great sidekick of Ray Allen with Sonics, finals run in ORL, ring with Miami

Marion - Run and gun all-star days with the Suns, ring with Mavs

Kenyon Martin - Finals run in NJ, success in Denver

Jermaine O'Neal - Been playing forever, was one of the best bigs while in Indy

Jason Terry - Time with the Hawks, ring with Mavs, stupid tattoos with championship trophy

Metta World Peace - Hilarious career, ring with LAL

Gunna be a sad day when some of these guys call it a day. What are your favourite memories from the listed players? Who will you miss the most?

First, I'm gunna miss KG. The ultimate competitor who gave it his all, was incredibly loyal and a team-first player, despite his talent.

Second would be Ray Allen. The best shooter ever IMO who kept his body in amazing shape, with the smoothest stroke I've ever seen. He, to this day, still shows up 3 hours before games to get his shot up.

Kobe for me... Between the start of 2000 till the end of 2010 Kobe was in the finals 7 times? That's amazing. For some it was Duncans era... for me it was Kobe's. It'll be hard for me to see him retire.

Kobe had that special aura around him. Even when Lakers sucked, we all still had to watch Lakers because of him. Very few players on that list have that

I guess we'll agree to disagree then, because I never thought he was particularly funny (much like Howard). Seeing him on TV still makes me cringe.

Basketballwise sure, he was one of the best ever, but those last couple of years were just painful to watch. So not very sad to see him go.

I miss him playing because otherwise he's pretty horrible on TNT.

I'm all with Kobe, as I have family in California and watched the Lakers in the finals in 2001-03 years before I ever watched a Raptors game.

For me, and for a lot of people I think, Kobe IS the NBA.

For everyone who didn't see him win a chip or be a perennial contender (as the remainder of his career is likely to be, at this point at least) I think there won't be the same level of appreciation and admiration until LeBron goes. And even then he'll always be the greatest competitor I've ever seen. For instance, there's no way there would have been that kind of lollygagging in the All-Star game had Kobe been playing.

I just don't think I'll ever see a player single-handedly take over games so dominantly, so consistently, so often and in such a clutch manner. (Our game in LA last year is about as great an example as you can get) If LeBron is the embodiment of the post-modern era of basketball in that his best quality is that he makes others better, that he's unselfish, that he's analytic, than Kobe will be the last and greatest embodiment of the 90s mentality: gritty, cocky, determined, cutthroat and cold-blooded. A true champion.
