Because the team was pretty pitiful? He did take them to the playoffs for a few years tho. I really do think Pierce is a elite guard in the league, truely, when he puts his mind to it, he is hard to stop, draws tons of fouls and finishes strong.

Huh?

He has been known to turn it up a notch in the fourth quarter for his entire career.

In the historic Game 3 of that series, he led the Celtics to the biggest fourth-quarter comeback in NBA playoff history. Pierce scored 19 of his 28 point total during the fourth quarter, and the Celtics recovered from a 21 point 4th quarter deficit to defeat the New jersey Nets.[2]

Humorous.

Did he do nothing, or did you only start paying attention when the media told you to?

Just because ESPN and co blew their load all over the Celtics this year doesn't mean Paul Pierce has done nothing previously.

Statistically he just had his worst season since his rookie year, which considering he still went for something like 20, 5 and 4 is saying something.

Not into stats? OK, witness him taking a team with Antoine "Long Range" Walker as it's second best player to the East finals a little while back.

Paul Pierce has been a beast ever since he entered the league. He might not be the best player in the world, but much worse players have made that claim.

Hence why an alltime great labeled him "The Truth" early in his career

Paul Pierce is not in any way the best player in the world. In the last two years before Garnett and Allen, he was leading his team to 33 win and 24 win seasons in the inferior division of the inferior conference, while Kobe was leading the Lakers to two playoff berths, on a very comparable roster. Trust me, it wasn't Lamar Odom that made the difference. Pierce just isn't good enough to call himself the best
