OKC will also send Nenad Krstic to the Celtics for Perkins, source says.

Really? wow.

Looking back Boston traded the 5th pick to Seattle/OKC and they took Jeff Green with that pick. Boston gets that pick back now. lol

Love the trade for OKC. They get the presence in the middle they need, and now they can start Ibaka too to ceeate one hell of a defensive frontcourt.

BOS thinks the SHaq pairing is better come playoff time in terms of the starting lineup, and their bench is incredible.

2 reasons for this

1. celts needed a shutdown SG/SF to fill in for pierce, it seems they couldn't get battier so they went for the next best thing

2. they knew they would not be able to sign perkins to an extension so why not move him.

the only problem i see is their C position, kristic isn't close to being as good as perkins was.

It's cause he didn't accept the extension.... not a terrible move by Boston if they think he's going to get too much coin. But can they re-sign Green...

they'll have his bird rights, so it shouldn't be a big problem.

I've always loved Jeff Green and thought he would be good in a raptors' uniform.

This actually gives the Celts a piece to build with for the future too, if he re-signs.

I love the move for OKC too, as they add some toughness and a defensive anchor. They will be tough come playoff time.

2 players that I would have liked to have seen on the Raptors

Yeah, but he's injury prone too... maybe they don't want to cover the risk

Just saw this on Yahoo....nice trade for both teams.

Jeff Green should be able to learn from KG and improve his development and it gives them a nice piece off the bench.

Perkins gives OKC a legit C and a guy who makes OKC a legit contender right now.

So Robinson/Perkins for Kristic/Green?

Nice deal for both teams, but i'd say OKC gets more of what was needed. They're now equiped down low to really make some noise in the playoffs.

Sources: Boston Celtics get Oklahoma City Thunder's Jeff Green in Kendrick Perkins deal - ESPN Boston
Quote:
Just before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline, the Boston Celtics agreed to ship center Kendrick Perkins and guard Nate Robinson to the Oklahoma City Thunder for swingman Jeff Green and big man Nenad Krstic, two league sources told ESPN.com's Chad Ford on Thursday.

Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge said Wednesday that Perkins is out at least a week after spraining the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

It's a homecoming of sorts for Green. He was selected by the Celtics in the first round (fifth overall) in the 2007 draft. But he was traded with Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West to then Seattle SuperSonics for Ray Allen and Glen Davis.

The Celtics' pursuit of a perimeter player intensified when it became apparent that Marquis Daniels might miss the rest of the season with a spinal injury.

Strange to me. Green is nice young talent, but C like Perkins should be more valuable RIGHT NOW. (Talking about celtics). And we all know it's all about this season.
In the other hand, Celts already beat up Miami without Kedrick, so... i don know...

i love this trade for oklahoma. love love love it.

i guess jeff green is finally going to get a chance to play some small forward. boston's bench is looking scary after this deal, but i think oklahoma came out on top here because they really addressed a need. this trade has made oklahoma a legit contender in the west, IMO.
