I agree that a franchise has a right to be concerned but unless its in the contract, they should be allowed. Its an honour to play for your country especially if you get a chance to win an Olympic medal (FIBA is not really that big tho)

apparently it was just one inch lower than the standard, doubt it would have made a difference. It was a freak accident, could have happened anywhere anytime.

players will play in much worse venues during the summer, not sure how the national team commitment makes any difference. I'm more concerned with the time they lose from their normal training process, especially for younger guys, than the risk of injuries.

unless they sit on a beach all summer, the risk of injury is about the same no matter where they play in the off-season.

Fair, I was thinking more along the lines of where the cameramen are placed because they get hit frequently and it's just a matter of time.

Paul George Undergoes Surgery Expected To Miss 14 15 Season - RealGM Wiretap

Quote:
Paul George underwent surgery following his lower right leg fracture during the United States' intrasquad scrimmage at UNLV.

In a statement released after surgery was completed, USA Basketball confirmed George suffered an open tibia-fibula fracture and is expected to remain hospitalized for about three days.

Sources close to the situation told ESPN that while there was no additional damage besides the fractures, doctors believe George likely will miss all of next season, though no official prognosis has been given.

George was injured trying to block a shot from James Harden when his leg landed and then buckled at the base of the basket stanchion.

His right leg was put in an air cast, and he was taken to a Las Vegas hospital after being treated for about 15 minutes on the court.

They just need to rule him out for the season and let him recover fully. Although its possible he could be in action as early as Feb. +based on the 6-9 month recovery i saw online) Just sit him for the season

Because he's currently recovering from a stress fracture of his fibia. He might not be ready anyways. If he didn't have the injury, they likely would have given permission.

back in my day, there was a reason why NBA players weren't allowed on Team USA.

One inch from the standard doesn't mean that the ones on NBA courts are just an inch further. The comparison pic has the Pacers' posted a lot further. Jesus FIBA.

because 4 feet in the regulation, you can make it more if you want. Raptors is really fat back. Also it was in Vegas, I don't think it was an official FIBA court
