He's definitely going to be out for the year after that. I was hoping it wouldn't be that gruesome when I looked at my twitter feed then saw the video, but wow. Just brutal.

I know this is now going to bring up discussions on whether NBA players should play in the olympics now, but this could happen in any rec league game they play in too, so I think it's a major overreaction by everyone saying so.

Indiana isn't going to be in the race to make the playoffs either. They could barely score with both Stephenson and George, now they don't have either one of them, with possibly the worst PG/SG/SF lineup in the NBA besides Philly. They would have been scrapping to make the playoffs with George this year.

This really sucks though. Hopefully it'll be a quicker recovery than anticipated.

Just found this on RGM:

Is this regulation for FIBA, or just in Vegas the way the gym is constructed? Why is it that close?

And I think what you're saying begs the question as to whether or not the Pacers look to move David West and possibly Hibbert, as well. David West is 34 this month. If George is out of AT LEAST one year, and possibly the bulk of a second season, then the Pacers are not in contention during the remainder of his contract. Might be worth it to move West for something.

That was horrible, so sad for Paul.

I remember playing with a guy who's leg broke during a game a few years ago in Cambodia. It was just as gruesome to see. We had to carry him, stuff him in a van and take him to run down hospital there. He came back a year later healed up and able to play again, so there is hope since Paul will have the best medical treatment money can buy unlike my friend.

WTHR-TV 13 - Indiana

PAUL GEORGE UPDATE: Officials say Paul George underwent successful surgery on open tibia-fibula fracture. George is resting comfortably. Should be in hospital about 3 days.

Hope George has a speedy recovery. That video of his injury looks really nasty.

It is the Vegas gym. ESPN was talking about, something about not being able to move it back further because of the way the arena is constructed.

here it is
Quote:
That's one of the issues with this arena. It's why the NBA won't have a team back here and it's why they haven't' brought the All-Star game back here. Even if they wanted to take the stanchion back even further, the stanchion as is is almost in the tunnel."

Damn damn damn...
Feel bad for PG. that could've been anyone... The whole nba world suffers when that type of thing happens.

Pacers are going to be awful next season...

They're complaining about the stanchion but look at impact center where nba players and prospects have been known to train....

I'm assuming that not all facilities used for player workouts and scrimmages during the summer are NBA approved/regulated

@WindhorstESPN
Pacers got some good news: surgery on Paul George's leg revealed no ancillary damage and that will greatly help recovery, source said

Looked like Anderson Silva's break (MMA). Since it is just bones, he should have a full recovery. Silva is 100% 13 months later.

Anyone that sees a positive for the Raptors or any other team needs a head shake. You want to beat a team at their best. No free passes.

That's rough for all parties involved. Hopefully it will result in some changes in international participation and/or stanchion/cameraman placement. Separate of that, I'm with Haverchuck; if they know what's good for them they'll trade West to a contender and if Hibbert plays well in the first half, move him too. Suffice to say this incarnation of the Pacers is over. It'll take a year or two for them just to clean house and get some draft picks again.

I don't get how you can deny your stars from participating in Team USA...
Raps management can decide which players can and which can't join? Lowry can't but Hansbrough can? That's kind of disrespectable to both players. So I don't get how that's gonna work out...

Of course a team has the right to decide, you are paying top dollar for these players and want then in top condition. Why do you think the spurs told Manu he can't play for Argentina this summer
