The Pacers give a shit about EVERY loss.... because they want home court advantage over MIA in the playoffs.

You can make that argument.

Demar had a great game...and he made a huge steal against George who was being lazy with the ball all game. He splashed a huge jumpshot right in George's eye. He made an incredibly important tip to a teammate on a defensive rebound where he didn't get credit for it. That was one of Demar's best performances ever despite the 9/24. And he did have to take 24 shots because everybody else was locked down.

It's funny how on a Raptors forum, one guy getting excited about a Demar gets lambasted for saying he isn't far off of Paul George. So many self-hating Raptor fans on here......don't even know how to get excited for your own team.

Him being the Raps go to scorer,it was critical for DD to have 10 of his 26 points (almost half his points) come in the 4th quarter.

As far as the original topic at hand,I understand both sides. I definitely do understand and agree that George is worth max money and even though its clear he's much better all around and possibly in almost every aspect of the game than DD,is he really worth 40 mil more? I think what Creative is saying is that the Raps got DD at a good price for what he contributes compared to what the Pacers are paying George. In my mind PG is worth 20 more than DD definitely,40 mil is detable considering its not a lock he'll guarantee your team an NBA Finals appearance much less a championship within the current make up of the league, especially the East.

thats about accurate

the thing is, winning changes allot of peoples perspective on players.. if DD played like how he did yesterday on a bigger stage.. like in the playoffs, then I probably wouldn't get clowned at that much on here.. I know George is better.. but the media wasn't calling him a star until he balled in the Mia series.

He is a good player no doubt, but when your playing good and your team is winning, you look really good, and that's the player people on here see when compared to Demar

This isn't about getting excited about the team, it's about a player comparison, and in this case, there is no comparison, one is much better than the other, and bumping this thread after one game where we beat that players team and our player had a decent game is pretty ridiculous.

I know you're a big Demar fan, but I think you can even admit that he's not close to PGs level, which is what this discussion ended up being about.

But the thing is, Paul George 1 year ago was a good leap away from being the Paul George of today. Paul George 2 years ago wasn't even close. All it takes is some experience and some small successes in the playoffs for a player like Demar to get the confidence to take his game to the next level. That's what George needed and got, and that is what Demar needs.

So is Demar at PG's level? No. Do I agree with what Creative said - Yes. Was Demar better than Paul George last night? Yes.

Also; Demar's pass to JV was on point. JV wasn't ready for the oop and had his hands down - but it was there to be had. Demar didn't give the ball up early because he was being safe and rightly so given the situation with the clock.

How is it playing it safe when Demar caught the ball just past the halfcourt mark, Hill was behind him, and JV was in front just past the 3 point line sprinting to the basket? If Demar would have made a simple chest pass right when he caught it, JV would have caught it, taken 2 steps, and had an easy dunk with Hill trailing behind. What Demar did wasn't smart, he just didn't have the awareness needed to catch, turn, and deliver the easy pass.

Edit - you're right - just saw your picture in the other thread. He missed the pass - but JV could have still easily converted the pass he made had he more experience finishing oops in transition.

This comparison (DD vs. PG) actually doesn't look so ridiculous now.... Who'd a thunk it?

Season avg. for DD: 22.9/4.5/3.9 on .434/.301/.807 shooting with a PER of 18.90

Season avg. for PG: 22.7/6.5/3.5 on .437/.376/.865 shooting with a PER of 21.29

TOR's and IND's records are almost identical since Jan 1st as well.... and you could argue that DD has been the better player of the 2 over that stretch.

The gap has closed quite a bit over the last while.

offensively speaking, you can make the argument that the gap has closed quite a bit, especially now that Demar is in elite company in terms of getting to the foul line. His FTAs are as valuable as George's outside shooting.

The big difference is at the defensive end.

I already shared my 2cents.. but get eating alive on this topic.

I think at the time of the comparison people were star struck with PG, comparing the guy who is on the winning team who took the NBA champions to game 7, versus the playoff-less losing inexperienced Derozan Raptors team.

I honestly didn't see a huge gap in comparison, and still don't. It's nice to see a few people here with sense.

OH yea.. your boy PG had 2 pts in 33 mintues vs Bobcats
