Pargo could sign with Spurs?

There seems to be a chance that free agent point guard Jannero Pargo could end up leaving the Hornets for the Spurs this summer, according to The San Antonio Express-News.

One rumor circulating around a Western Conference front office on Monday afternoon was that Pargo had already, or was about to, agree to a deal with the Spurs.

However, Pargo's agent Mark Bartelstein acknowledged talks with the Spurs but said his client has yet to agree to a deal with anyone.

"The Spurs speak for themselves," Bartelstein said. "It's a great place to play. They are limited in what they can do financially, but we are definitely talking to them."

The Hornets appear unlikely to re-sign free agent point guard Jannero Pargo at this point in the offseason, according to The Times-Picayune.

Mark Bartelstein, Pargo's agent, said Monday that the Hornets "don't seem interested in signing (Pargo) at this point. I don't think he'll be back with them at this point."

New Orleans general manager Jeff Bower declined to comment on the negotiations on Tuesday.

The Spurs appear to have emerged as the front-runner to land Pargo

God damn Spurs

Seems like a terrible fit. Pargo is pretty shot happy, and that doesn't really fly with Popovich.

I want him out of New Orleans though. Sure, he can shoot a team into a game, but he's just as likely to shoot them right out of it.

Pargo, to me, seems like a guy who doesn't know his limits. And if he's cold, that doesnt bother him. He'll keep firing.

For his career, he attempts a field goal every 2.4 minutes and shoots 39%. Chris Paul, by comparison, attempts one every 2.6 minutes and shoots 46%. The difference? Paul has been a starter in every NBA game he's played. Pargo has started 13 games in his career.

Why the hell would the backup point guard be shooting more often than the best point guard in the league? Especially considering the other options on that team.

Also, kind of ironic the Spurs are going after him considering how totally horseshit he was against them in the playoffs.

I dont get it, they just signed a taller, better shooter/defender version of Pargo in Mason JR, why the hell would they sign Pargo?

The only teams I could see that dont have a backup PG already that could possibly need his type of PG are LAC, MIA, and SAC. Cant really find any team past them.

They also got delfino i think there thinking that finley will take a step to the bench and retire next year and they need a reliable 2 guard. i believe mason will back up parker
and delfino will back up bowen with finley behind pargo

i get it. they're adding a player with some speed and who can come into a game and make a difference from time to time for cheap. what's so hard to understand about that? would it have been dumb for us to pick him up when we had ford and calderon? i don't think so, especially when calderon had to play 40 minutes a night.
