Red face Owners send proposal of Hard cap to NBA PA

Boy, this is really gonna get Fugly!!

Quote:
The proposal was sent to the union earlier this week and seeks a reduction in the players' share of basketball-related income from 57 percent to well below 50 percent, according to a report.

Owners also are seeking some aspects of a hard cap -- a departure from the current luxury-tax system -- and a reduction in the length and amount of max contracts.

Looking more and more like a lock-out is looming.

Hardball. Everyone knows the best deal is at the 11th hour. Players should know the owners always win these things. Owners usually treat an NBA franchise as a side break even business and couldn't really care if they lose a little money. Once the first couple of paycheques don't get cashed for the player they cry.

Players take the last offer before the deadline if you know whats good for yourself. Play smart.

Lastly, I really hope its not a hard cap. I'm not really big on seeing OKC face the Bucks in a final

Hard Cap really blows, just look at the NHL.

Maybe there should be no cap next year, like the NFL

NHL owners are like the Homeless when it comes to North American Sports. NBA Owners although some are cross owned have a significantly more in their portfolio.

No Comparison

It's pretty well known that the majority of NBA players have little to no financial planning for the future and sadly, despite their incomes, can not go very long without playing. This always wins out in these situations. The players union will break down eventually thanks to pressure from the players.

Well said. NBA player gets his rookie bonus and makes the worst investment you could possibly make ... A luxury car.

A smart person would buy some real estate but thats the way it goes.
