Orlando signs White Chocolate

Quote:
The Magic have signed free agent guard Jason Williams, General Manager Otis Smith announced on Wednesday.

RealGM's Alex Kennedy reported earlier on Wednesday that Orlando would sign Williams. "Jason (Williams) provides depth and leadership to our backcourt," said Smith. "He is a veteran point guard that knows what it takes to help us reach our ultimate goal. We are excited to add him to our team." Williams did not play during the 2008-09 season after announcing his retirement last September.

I am willing to bank, that if J-WIll plays anything remotely close to what he did in his golden days. Or even with Miami, he will be an X-factor on that squad and be in consideration for 6th man of the year. Orlando probably has the best point guard combo in the league.

What is he 40 now. He can be a good passer but he won't do much scoring.

And if Hakeem Olajuwon had played anywhere remotely close to his prime when we signed him to that obscene contract we would have been a dynasty. Or if Shaq had been anywhere near his prime in Phoenix they would have won two championships by now.

He'll only see PT if Johnson shows his old age, and even then he may not see any playing time by all the reviews he got in his work outs.

Johnson only has one year on J-will. 34 vs 33.

Big word I used there, was If. You were obviously to young to remember Jason Williams in his glory days, so I do not feel the necessity to explain to you anything. You the biggest optimist I know who tends to troll threads. To call me out as an optimist, especially when I tend to see both sides of an argument.

Jason Williams is still quite young for the league. He's always been a consistent starter in the league. Even in his last season in Miami he was putting up decent numbers. I think it's a good move, low risk one at that.

He retired for a reason. Oh and I know he was a decent point guard in his so-called glory days. With all the competition these days and him being 32, he'll be about as good as Anthony Johnson- not vvery. They should've kept either Alston or Lee.

Your basketball IQ is obviously quite low, and you tend to make assumptions. They weren't so called glory days, They were glory days, Williams used to be a top pier point guard in the league, and even when he retired still carried his own. Your saying that Orlando should have kept the head case, Alston, who would have sulked on the case and not token the opportunity to get Carter. Give it a rest.

Not only about the stats. He only one one chapionship. He was never one of the top tier point guards. At most top 20. No all-star appearances. Never really the best leader. 10 pppg avg in the playoffs isnt great. NBA.com : Jason Williams Career Stats Page

Your oblivous, you have obviously never watched Williams play and are hidding behind facts, which prove he didn't score? Hmm, he's a point guard, I think between 10-14 ppg his whole career seems about right. I'm not saying he's an allstar, but Williams was a good player. If I recall he was second in assists for a couple season, he always played on teams that where playoff bound. Sacramento, and when Memphis was alright. Your just digging yourself a hole. Quit well you are ahead.

lol.In his prime he nhad 14 and 8. Calderon is putting up 13 and 8 near the beggining of his career. Williams never had the great potential. He was a decent player in his time and now his time is over. Quit while you're ahead.

Nice argument, in depth and great comparisions. Not. A lot of people think Calderon has basically peeked at his potential. Especially since his stints of injury. Williams, on the other hand was a good played when he played. You have obviously never seen him play and are hiding behind stats, which even show he was a good point guard. He still can play, and will have an oppurtunity to do so. and even if I did quit well I was ahead, my argument would be far ahead of yours.
