Omri Casspi wants out of Sacremento

Quote:

Allon Sinai, Jerusalem Post: For the fourth time in the past seven games, Omri Casspi never left the Sacramento Kings’ bench on Sunday night, watching from the sideline as his team claimed a 106-97 home victory over the Utah Jazz. The 22-year-old Israeli forward has experienced an erratic sophomore season in the NBA under the guidance of fickle coach Paul Westphal. After playing a total of just 27 minutes in Sacramento’s last seven games, Casspi has revealed that he would like to leave the Kings for a team that would truly appreciate him. “It’s not easy for me to sit on the bench, which has happened to me quite a bit in Sacramento’s last few games,” Casspi wrote in a column published on Israeli sports website ONE. … Casspi, who has averaged 8.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 69 games so far this season, claimed that there is plenty of interest in his services from other teams in the league. “I know that there are many teams, including some playoff teams, that want me ahead of next season,” he wrote. “I hope to find myself in a team that appreciates me as a player and a person, a team that plays like a team.”

He'd serve as a good replacement for Weems.

pzabby 04-05-2011 09:05 PM

:dead: i think he's overvaluing himself there just a bit

i dont know if you guys watched him last year...but he was great....doesnt play much defense but is a great offensive player....he seemed to be a part of the core of that team last year....don't know why he's in the dog house this season...hes a young player with lots of upside.

i wasn't impressed with what little i saw of him. Seems too one dimensional and pretty much the type of dude we should stay away from. However i am judging him on a couple of games so frankly i don't know shit.

he is sort of one dimensional...but he is still is a good ball handler, while not great on the defensive end, he is at least an average defender and an underrated passer...i like the kid...i would love to see him on this team...

He's not a very good defender.

Do not want.

Sounds like you guys are describing Bellinelli. And from what little I saw, he looks to play like him.

Nobody is going to look like a good defender on SAC just like TOR. Casspi is a very underrated player. Hes a very good 3 pt shooter, solid midrange shooter, and isnt bad going to the rim. Hes unselfish, he ALWAYS plays hard, he plays with high intensity, and he has a high bball IQ. He'd be a very good role player on a winning team. Hes one of those players that will play better on an above average to elite team than a lotto team. Hes a winning player.

Why Westphal isnt playing a guy who cares as much as Casspi and who plays as hard as Casspi is beyond me.

SoGood 04-06-2011 03:45 AM

Whenever I see him play I see him knock down 3s like it's nothing.

MARTYNAS 04-06-2011 03:45 AM

I know him best from Tel Aviv, and he was useless. Yeah, he was good in SAC last year, but Kings is just that bad... And I really thought that guy should thank yhwh he is there...

And why Toronto would want another mediocre SF? There are 4 already... By the way, already talked about few months ago.

I've only seen him play 1 or 2 times and in those games he was hitting three's and hustling all over the place. He seems hungry which is always a good thing.

I dont know if you know. But most teams dont put up with screwing the pooch on defense.

The team is winning right now. That might explain a lot in terms of Westphal's motives, and in backing up what you're saying to an extent - in that he's not a great fit.

I never mentioned him fitting on the Raps because he would just go by the wasteside like everyone else until we get structure with this crap organization.

But again if I'm a GM with a winning team then I'd definately look in to geting Omri in the offseason.
