Rockets Omer Asik Requests Trade From Rockets

Rudy for Asik? lol

whats his contract like?

Quote:
Omer Asik has requested a trade from the Houston Rockets.

Asik is unhappy with his playing time with the Rockets playing Dwight Howard at center.

Asik declined comment, referring questions to his agent, Andy Miller. Miller also would not comment on any trade request.

““I would say the situation is very frustrating right now and we’re trying to work through it,”” Miller said. ““For Omer, the objective has always been to continue to develop and grow as a player. That’’s why we came to Houston in the first place. If that objective can’’t be met, if we can’’t get the right platform to grow and contribute as a player, it’’s certainly frustrating.””

Kevin McHale has experimented with playing Howard and Asik together, but it has been unsuccessful.

Hmmm, if they had half a brain the Thunder would be inquiring. Don't have a clue what they'd have that Houston would want though. When you really step back and look at that roster there isn't much depth.

The last thing the Thunder need is definitely another defensive big who can't score for shit.

He's be an upgrade over (Perkins/Thabeet/Adams).....that's pretty ugly!

Westbrook
Sefolosha
Durant
Ibaka
Asik

^ That is a lot better then what they currently have imo. Don't think they are good trade partners though.

Like Lin's.... backloaded big time.

About $5M this year and $15M next year.

Adams can fill in as that defensive center, he ain't bad. It's just the overall problem over there is scoring, so I'd figure maybe they fish out Jackson and maybe Lamb to try and add a better piece.

Yeah I don't see them passing the second round with Westbrook and Durant as the only 2 capable scorers lol.

The 5-15 mil thing is just payment scheduling. Officially, for cap and trade purposes, Asik's (and Lin's) salary is 8.3 mil every year.

Rockets center Omer Asik has requested a trade, according to a report in the Houston Chronicle. Asik played just four minutes in the team's loss to the 76ers on Wednesday. While the Rockets aren't looking to deal Asik at the moment, multiple sources said the Raptors are one team that's already highly interested
NBA Today: Cavaliers seek more ball movement from Kyrie

We're apparently interested, guess we want Val to rot on the bench....

We should definitely be interested. His motor is big time and we need to continue to change the culture here. Less focus on the perimeter-oriented wings. Asia would fit with JV more than Dwight too. Would be nice to have two athletic, skilled seven footers. So much more rim protection.

No way in hell should we trade Amir for Asik. Amir is far better scorer, he's amazing off the court and he's just as good of a rebounder if not better. That's not even mentioning his salary.

I wouldn't support a straight up Amir for Asik deal. While Amir, due to his lack of size, isn't on the same level as Asik as a defensive anchor, he's still a very good defender; our best. And his soft touch from the field and free throw line, and his ability to spread the floor a bit, make him a much more coveted offensive player than Asik.

And where does he fit? On the bench, so he can just sulk some more? Or does our budding center get relegated to the pine to feature a Hansbrough/Asik duo? Or does Casey abandon his small ball proclivity for a super big JV/Asik frontcourt?

Can't really envision any of these scenarios. Perhaps get a third team involved.

Thats bull. He came to Rockets because they offered an RFA a huge deal that couldn't be matched by Bulls. Did he have a choise there? Decline and go with qualifying offer? Yeah, right
