I'm not sure why we couldn't go extra big with JV and Asik and I'm not sure why it has to be goodbye Amir. I'd love to get him, and force Casey away from his coveted small ball strategy. We need more interior beasting, and even if it's not with post ups and such, Asik gets it on the boards and around the paint. The dude is active and long, think Hansborough with size.

Amir and JV just doesn't overwhelm anyone at this point, and while JV could get there, it doesn't seem Amir has much more upside than he's shown.... beyond wanting to shoot the three ball. Asik and JV, with Amir as the third or sometimes second big.... why not? Trade a wing.... heck, maybe even Landry for him.

The Rockets weren't the only ones pursuing, though I imagine they were the highest bidders. He was getting paid, the dude was a healthy seven footer with upside. Seven footers get paid.

Money always matter, but the Rockets gave him a fantastic opportunity that first year. Take the money factor away, it still would make no sense to stay with the Bulls.

The Rockets really need a PF if they're trading Asik. And their salaries are pretty close as well. Asik is an 8.3mil cap hit next season to Amir's 7.5mil

except they want a guy that can really stretch the floor... they have better options for cheaper already on the team, with Jones and Casspi.... nobody, even us, want Amir Johnson taking too many perimeter jumpers (especially threes which are better than long twos) to try and draw defenders away from the paint.

Amir + Gray to Rockets
Asik + Montiejunas to Raptors

Im not sure about letting go of Amir is a great idea but this is the only way it will work both ways, we get young asset.

Houston can and will get more for Asik. As good as Amir, Houston won't be sweetening with an asset and taking on Gray's contract.

I'm only suggesting this because it seems like we are getting into conversation on Asik's trade.

I don't know why we should in the first place. Let's keep Amir and forget about any trade.

I see that, but I don't think trading for Omer has to necessitate trading Amir. Dwight has played well with stretch fours and not much else. Amir isn't that guy. I could see them adding Landry before adding Amir. If Houston does anything, it's with Dwight returning to his Orlando form.

I could see them chasing Ryan Anderson or someone like that.... Amir would just be a floor spacer in Houston, and that's wasting his efforts.

Ha

You are saying that they might be more interested in Fields + Novak to Asik's + Montiejunas. This one I like better

Lol that's a horribly lopsided deal. I could see a Ryan Anderson for Asik deal, it makes perfect sense! (don't know salarywise). Wait a minute is Anderson injured or something?

The scariest place the could trade Asik is OKC. I could see an Asik- Perkins/Lamb deal. OKC would be freaking scary with an Asik/Ibaka/Durant front line. They could take Indy or Miami.

The pure dollars aren't important. The cap hit is, and that gets spread over the contract.

No, I'm saying take out Montejunas and stop trying to get a sweetener. Asik is the better player, or rather the more coveted player. He's an athletic, healthy seven footer with reasonable skill and a high motor. They have Jones, Casspi, and even Montejunas.... they aren't sweetening to get Amir, or Fields.

Think Rashard Lewis in Orlando.... because Dwight looked horrible next to Pau. Why do you think Garcia and Casspi are getting so much run at the PF spot for Houston right now? Ryan Anderson makes perfect sense.

HoopsHype - Omer Asik Rumors

Quote:
Rockets center Omer Asik has requested a trade, according to a report in the Houston Chronicle. Asik played just four minutes in the team's loss to the 76ers on Wednesday. While the Rockets aren't looking to deal Asik at the moment, multiple sources said the Raptors are one team that's already highly interested. I kinda wonder if Landry sat out the last game for a reason.

i just don't see why the Raptors are interested in asik unless its part of another move. what do they plan to do start him and bring val off the bench or trade amir and play him at pf? cuz that experiment didn't work in houston.
