Spain's chances diminished when Pau drove and was unable to finish after a little bit of contact from Carmello. Then he missed a FT and instead of a 3 point possession it was a single point. Instead of keeping it to a 4 point game, it was 6 and growing and it was just too tough. Nice half overall by Pau, but that one possession hurt.

No question. This team would have to shoot it like they did against Nigeria for them to stand a chance. They'd get mutilated otherwise. They won the Gold with what was essentially a D'Antoni offense. Shoot tons of 3s and play fast... don't worry about the D.

Spain with huge guts though. Credit to Pau as well. Showing that he's no as washed up as some people thought.

great, great effort by spain, after their disappointing performances all games long they finally played how they can, really enjoyed watching them. Pau was a beast.

It will be interesting to see if Cuban and Stern will have their way.

I'm not going to take anything away from the USA victory but let's be honest, the world competition and quality of teams USA is facing is far superior now than when the dream team was assembled. Essentially it was NBA players against NBA players - This Spainish team is no push over.

all the teams shoot tons of 3s, it's the style of international ball.

sometimes USA neglected D, but they played D plenty when they had to.

IMO people go a bit too crazy about the dream team and are too critical of the modern USA teams. Maybe because of the media hype and "arrogant" egos that are in the game these days. Not that there weren't egos in the 80s and 90s!?

IMO the dream team would win, they were a superior team, but this year's team would give them one hell of a game.

I think this USA team with Dwight and Wade instead of Anthony Davis and Harden (Rose could replace someone too) could possibly "upset" the dream team. It'd be close obviously.

i think you have to keep in davis coz the dream team took laettner!?

but swap howard for chandler and yeah, maybe put wade in, although harden had so few mins, wade might struggle to get any PT.

i agree, would be very close game.

I don't think it'd be close at all (unless the current team shot it like gods).

Look at the size on that '92 team. Plus, they had a guy like Barkley who can essentially do everything that Lebron does now. Add in Jordan and Pippen (2 of the best perimter defenders of all time) and I'd still give them a decided advantage.

I think that older team has more of a killer instinct too.

True though that if this current team had Bosh, D12, Wade and perhaps Rondo that would give them a better chance (IMO).

Forgot about Bosh. That'd be a nice addition. I don't think Rondo would be the best fit, he already got cut before. Rose would be better for that team.

That's complete hogwash. It's like when people think the world is more dangerous and kids get kidnapped now all the time.

Forgot about Rose... true.

I'm assuming that Rondo that we'd be seeing would be the one in the playoffs who could stick open shots and hit FTs.... if that was just an abberation (I'm hoping it wasn't) then I could see him not fitting in for int'l play.

Well you do have Lebron picking up a 4th foul just to jab people in the face with a finger. That's a pretty dystopian world. I can think of no greater evil.
