Not going to happen. AI wants at least more then 8mil a year and for a Euro team he's not going to settle for any less then 10mil a year.

I doubt he can get that 10Mil/2yr contract in the NBA, nevermind 8Mil. That's rediculous.

Well it's still not going to happen. AI would never go to Europe. He would be so out of place. Also, his legacy would be crushed in the NBA.

Dominque Wilkins went to Europe for a couple years, his legacy still lives on.

Why wouldn't it happen? Chances are, it's 5 million euros a season tax free, and he'd get everything paid for - house, cars, food, everything.

AI has always had the material stuff, but he's found a way to screw things up and be unhappy anyway.

It's the "European" side of things I don't think he'll be able to deal with. Staying with a roommate on road trips; sleeping in hotels that are atrocious by American standards, let alone those of an NBA player; playing half the minutes he's used to playing on some nights, etc.

My bets are he's in the NBA when the season starts.

Dude, greece is not the third world you know. He will stay in perfectly fine places, and he will have 5 stars hotels everywhere if thats what he wants.

I was watching Pardon the Interruption a while back and they mentioned that a lot of the time the reason former-NBA players / castaway NBA players don't play in Europe long-term is because of the places they have to stay in during road trips, having to share with room-mates, etc.

Maybe Greece is an exception, I'm not sure.

the culture shock is what the players are afraid of.
think about it, some of these guys refuse to play in Toronto, you think they will go to europe?
AI going to greece will never happen.

I dont know that show. All I cant tell you is that small teams maybe wont have money to pay for good hotels, just like a D-League team in the US (Rod Bensons blog ilustrates this pretty well) cant. But Olympiacos will have more than enough to pay for a nice place for its players and there are a lot of these in 95% of the countries in europe.

Yes, the minutes will be an issue. But the other stuff, not so much. I believe Olympiakos paid for Childress's transportation and housing and all that. If they're bringing in NBA Guys, they're going to take care of 'em.

To all of you who are saying AI will be back in the NBA: What team will he go to? Is there any GM out there who seriously wants AI? I'm not saying it won't happen, I just don't think there's a single team where he's a good fit at this point.

His best bet should he return to the league would be Miami. He'd get playing time. If he's on Memphis or the Clips, he's coming off the bench, something he doesn't want to do.

If I were him, I'd take a long hard look at Greece. They'd be offering way more money than anyone else and he'd be a basketball god there.

Why such a strong conviction? It looks like Iverson is having a tough time finding any more than a few NBA teams with interest and I'm not sure if those teams can even offer the full MLE to him. I think he's going to be able to make millions more off this offer than what any NBA team is going to offer him to come off the bench. Coming off the bench is something he said he won't do. I think he might take it. He gets lots of money, little taxes, no living expenses and he gets to be the star with 30 shots a game.
