Boston globe is reporting that Nuggets are looking to move Iverson for billups plus filler...

Think trade would help Denver. but dont quite know what to think of AI in Detroit.

Gurk 11-02-2008 09:02 PM

I don't think it will help too much in Detroit. AI plays no D and Detroit is a D based team. I don't think this trade is gonna happen

Ball Don't Lie 11-02-2008 09:15 PM

DEN is never going to get that kind of value for Iverson, he isnt worth more than a good young player and filler because he has too many negatives in coming to a good playoff team. The only team I could see him fitting on is CLE if they traded Mo Williams and such for him. No good team wants a 6' SG who shoots too much and plays terrible defence even if he has the biggest heart i nthe league and has shot better recently.

MangoKidHoops 11-03-2008 11:38 AM

Ouch. That would be a terrible trade for Detroit. Billups is a heady, tough PG that plays within a team system. AI doesn't really do that. I guess one possibility could be the Knicks if they want to make a run - Lee+Curry + filler for AI. I think the Nugs best option would be just to let the contract expire.

FR33RIDE 11-03-2008 12:03 PM

Yahoo sports said the trade is gonna be annonced in about an hour

Gurk 11-03-2008 12:05 PM

I don't believe that this tarde will happen...... or atleast I don't want it to happen

MangoKidHoops 11-03-2008 12:09 PM

Yeah, It was just reported as McDyess and Billups for Iverson.
Well, it provides more scoring for the Pistons, and there's the cap space at the end of the year that Dumars was looking for.. I think this is the beginning of the slow dismantling of the team - 'Sheed will probably be next to go. You have to wonder how long it'll take berfore AI and 'Sheed get into a fight.

Gurk 11-03-2008 12:11 PM

Billups is goning back to Denver where he was born. So it might be a good move for him to go there

Snooch 11-03-2008 12:22 PM

Good for my fantasy, as now AI will get more asists and likely beter efficiency with his shots.

Ex2k 11-03-2008 12:30 PM

Denver has traded All-Star guard Allen Iverson to Detroit in exchange for Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess, a league executive with knowledge of the talks said.

The deal is expected to be completed within the hour

Ex2k 11-03-2008 12:30 PM

Funny how Billups was released by that same Nuggets team way back when. And is this McDyess' third time around with Denver? Or the second time only?

As hoops alluded to, it's done strictly for cap space at the end of the year. Iverson provides a scoring punch and let's the remain competitive in the East. But the writing is on the wall, they won their championship and were a dominate team in the east for the better part of the decade. Time to re-up and with players like Amir Johnson, Maxiell and Stuckey it's moving in the right direction.

'trane 11-03-2008 01:02 PM

makes a lot of sense for denver too. they will be much im,proved. billups can steady that offense and give the rock to melo. dyess is a perfect guy to replace what camby gave them (or some of it anyways).

MangoKidHoops 11-03-2008 01:06 PM

Definitely makes a whole heap of sense for Denver. Like Trane point out, The Nugs get that PG they've been lacking since they dealt away Dre Miller, and they get size in the form of McDyess - something they've sorely needed since dealing away Camby - and having question marks in K-Mart.

That would be amazing wouldn't it. But if the deal is done today then I think Iverson will be playing

Gurk 11-03-2008 01:23 PM

Looks like the trade is going to go through without any players doing a phyisical. Also, Mcdyss doesn't want to play in Denver so he may opt to retire.

I think this just completely changes the landscape in Detroit. I don't see how it works, outside of cap considerations.

Everything being considered, after less than a week, the Raptors are looking pretty well positioned in the East for right now.

I don't get it either .... so, will he be running the point instead of Stuckey who you would assume would be PG now. Or will AI being coming off the bench to back up Rip? I don't get it at all. :confused2:
