the nuggets will benefit the most from this, and heres why....
Chauncey Billups plays his best basketball when his teamates are playing well and the team (as a whole) is playing its best.
Iverson, on the other hand, plays his best ball when he is the focal point and doing most of the work by himself.
its so much easier to add billups to the nuggets and improve becuase he'll get everyone involved and allow carmelo to be the number 1 option.
(fantasy note - Carmelo will be HUGE this season sans AI).

I just heard on Hardcore sports radio (while I was at the gym) that the Pistons are going to roll out Stuckey at the 1, AI at the 2, Rip at the 3, Prince at the 4 and Sheed at 5.

Wow, that wouldn't be a good line-up IMO. That's way to small. No way is that type of line-up going to handle teams like Orlando

This experiment by Detroit will not end well for them.

IMHO Iverson is old and going downhill fast... very fast. He was never a good shooter just a volume scorer and he use to get most of his point from the free throw line... he doesn't have the speed to penetrate and get calls as he used to.

Now that he is old and his knees are done he will help Detroit as much as Ben Wallace helped Chicago.

Prince is actually tall enough and he is an awesome difender, but he definetly doesnt have enough weight to defend strong PFs. I cant see him defending garnett, duncan, amare, etc...

Weird thing.

BTW, Mango is back!! love it.

okay. okay. lemme just wrap my head around this blockbuster trade. ok... whew...

i LOVE AI! seriously, i love the guy. but i dont get why detroit would do this. as much as i love ai, he is a little screwed up at times, whereas billups is pretty straight up. and im very curious how old they both are? is detroit going for some youth with this?

or is this all about freeing up capspace as i read that ai's contract is ending soon. so it's about that big 3 thing again with bosh, bron, and wade. i was gonna say they have no chance. but then again i just read about this chauncey/ai rumour yesterday and thought this shit WOULD NEVER GO DOWN and i check online today and what the hell?

crazy fucking world! there's gonna be a black us president, the global climate is so fucked up. gas prices are going down and now ai for billups. what the fuck is going on...

dude, i dunno what you're talking about. ai is still a superstar in the league. we just dont hear much about him now b/c he plays in the west.

his numbers are still up there. his percentages are very comparable to any other superstar in the league. and i dont know what games youve seen, but ones ive seen...he can still fly through that lane like nobody. he maybe older, but his game is still intact.

That being said... look at when he played on Team USA. He was great (IMO). Scored AND passed with great efficiency. On a team like DET he could do the same.

We'll see.

I like the fact that we won't have to worry about him posting up Jose anymore...
Holly Jeez .... It was long time ago when AI played for Team USA. For Philly was by himself, but in Denver he had Camby, Carmelo, K. Martin and they still didn't make any splash. I have doubts, AI will not make any splash, for Detroit is pure salary dump.

To me i see a win win situation with both teams.

Denver:
All of these guys (Besides Samb who most likely be waived by the Nuggets) are vets that can bring their experience and skill to the table. With the Nuggets you get a more vetern experience with nba champions in Antonio McDyess, and Finals MVP Chauncey Billups. Antonio McDyess will be heading back to his career highs when he was a Nuggets (1998-2002). McDyess will give the Nuggets a even more deeper front court, where he can be put at PF behind Kenyon Martin, or start at Center ahead of the less experience Nene. With the leaving of Iverson, the Nuggets look thin at the shooting guard position; no worries because J.R Smith is a raising star in this league. Denver will have Billups at the point will give them leadership which hasn't existed since the departure of Andre Miller.

Detroit:
The Pistons lose some depth but in order to get you must give, and they recieved one of the prolific scorers in NBA history. Allen Iverson will get Detroit to contend with the Celtics which last year they did poorly. Detroit has a solid bench with young players like Rodney Stuckey, Arron Affalo and big guy Jason Maxiell. The Pistons also get some cap room in the offseason when Iverson's and Wallace's contracts expire. They will test their luck in the Free Agent market. In the end i could see the Piston's taking the east, like years before.

The Nuggets definitely become much more interesting. The Pistons will have to work out a whole new identity, as has every other team that AI has been on - even in Philly from one year to the next. Iverson simply doesn't have the kind of stuff that made him so dominant for a stretch. He could easily turn into another late-stage Jalen Rose this season.

Oh - and the mangokid is BACK! Yesssss!

PG Rodney Stuckey/Will Bynum
SG Allen Iverson/Richard Hamilton
SF Tayshaun Prince/Walter Herrmann
PF Jason Maxiell/Amir Johnson
C Rasheed Wallace/Antonio McDyess/Kwame Brown

BTW McDyess is going to be waived because he doesn't want to leave Detroit.
He has to wait 30 days to rejoin the Pistons.

The people that say Iverson is aging and is a depleting player don't know that Iverson is one year older than Billups.

AI is averaging 19 points 7 ast and Billups 12 points 7.5 ast so far this year.

Last year.
Iverson 26 points 7 ast 3 rebounds
Billups 17 points 6.8 ast 2.7 rebounds

You need to check yourself if you think Stuckey is going to start over Rip. Not only is Rip 10000x better than Stuckey but if they started that lineup teams would just zone them to death.

This Pistons team is a LOT more talented than Iversons 2001 Sixers team, so Iverson has no excuse to not win now(thats if he still has any magic left). He HAS to become more of a willing passer to make this work, although I do expect Curry to have a lot of the offence changed now to revolve around Iverson instead of running multiple sets in one play like they usually do. Its gonna be more iso and pick and roll related most likely. Should be very interesting. If Iverson shows hes still got something left theres no doubt they should be able to beat CLE now, BOS it still may be tough for them though especially without Mcdyess who killed boston in the WCF since midrange shooting bigmen can open up Bostons defence due to their style.

Everything being considered, after less than a week, the Raptors are looking pretty well positioned in the East for right now.
The good teams plan for the future while trying to win today. That's what Detroit is doing by getting AI. I still think that Toronto will be the forth or fifth seed.

Stuckey will be the starting PG and AI the starting SG.
Hamilton will come off the bench.
AI can be the PG when Hamilton is on the floor.
Also they have Bynum at PG.

Stuckey will play 30 min/gm
Iverson 36 min/gm
Hamilton 24 min/gm
Bynum 6 min/gm

TO, are you kidding me? The Pistons will not have Rip coming off the bench and only play 24 minutes per game. He's Detroit's best player. AI will start at point and Stuckey will back up AI for now, but Hamilton will not become a bench player for the Pistons. If he does, then Michael Curry should be shot and BC should get on the phone ASAP to acquire Rip. That would be waste of talent right there to sit on the bench and be used sparingly.

you do realize, TO, that rip just signed a 3 year $34 million contract extension... i'm sure he did that to play 24 minutes and come off the bench. yeah, that's it.
