Dwight Howard has long coveted the Brooklyn Nets as his next landing spot, but after a summer filled with daily rumors of four-team trade proposals, the six-time All-Star has moved on from his Big Apple infatuation and is locked in on joining the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell RealGM.The Lakers, Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly discussing a three-team trade that would send Howard to the Lakers, Andrew Bynum to the Cavaliers, while the Magic would receive Anderson Varejao and multiple draft picks.Howard has always been impressed with the Lakers’ winning tradition and intrigued with the off-court opportunities that come with playing in Los Angeles.Questions about Howard's role with the team, however, became an early concern for the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Howard has since moved on from those concerns and is confident he will be an integral part of a team that will have a chance to compete immediately for a championship, according to sources that spoke with RealGM.The Lakers are reportedly ready to make the trade, but first need assurance from Howard that he will commit to the team long-term. Sources say Howard is “excited” about the opportunity to play for the Lakers and will re-sign with the team when his contract expires at the end of the 2012-13 season.- Jarrod can be reached at Jarrod.Rudolph@RealGM.com or on Twitter @JRudolphSportsRead more:Dwight Howard Ready To Commit To Extension With Lakers - RealGM Wiretap

How trustworthy is he that he'll resign?

What if he doesn't get along with Kobe after 1season?

What if he wants to go elsewhere at the end of the year?

He signs it before he gets traded. Sign and trade.

I don't think so, I think Kobe understands he needs help and his wheels can't maintain the pace he does by himself. If Kobe can co exist with Shaq for 3 titles then he can co exist with D12. Besides, Nash will be running the show. Add to that Kobe will retire soon enough and D12 is young enough to run with the team in the future as 'the man'.

I give props to cupcake if he pulls this off. Though players want to be in LaLA Land, it still takes foresight, or at least have the necessary ingredients to take advantage of a golden opportunity when they arise.

would this make the Heat likeable now? they might be seen as the only team that can stand up to them. but man are they going to get beat up on the glass when its D12 vs. Scrub Johnson

I unno about that, with Lebron two time mvp leaving the year he got the mvp..? I mean it was huge. and it was his hometown too... and obv the decision. Three prime players join one another.

Howard did worse by destroying the team, but stayed quite... and cmon, Howard is effing hilarious, he'll regain the fans sooner or later. lmao but yea, he'll be hated... don't know how long.
Nash is loveable too, people have their own thing against Kobe, but I don't see how it'd get any worse then it is now... These guys are reaching their end of their career... People will eventually quit booing them and realize to respect them while their still in the league. Maybe I'm just saying that cause these three are one of my favorite players... I liked Bynum thoo, he made me laugh. 'when I heard i had 7 blocks, I just started to jumping at everything' - true role model.

How can you guys compare this to the Heat? Teams are actually getting something in return here. It ain't 2 guys holding their teams for ransom, getting traded for a tpe and 30th overall picks. I hate superteams, but they actually trade for their guys.

Winning actually makes your spare parts look valuable..... I wish we could win so that we can trade our bit parts like Ed for more than they're currently seen to be worth. A first round pick from LA is probably seen as more valuable than ours for fucks sake! lol

you see the thing is this, and its why I always stick up for Toronto GM's. These guys are using the CBA and finding trade loopholes all the time to get players to the Big markets. Players of course want to go there because the NBA and mass media tell them that they should want o be there.

Frustrating here as Toronto is the 4th largest media market in North America, yet is treated by the NBA and the media like its in Minnesota. People may not see why this is an issue, but it is, its a very big issue actually. If you're a small market team, you will never, ever be successful, and if you are Toronto, you won't be either because the NBA as an association doesn't take care of all its teams. Sure there is revenue sharing or caps or whatever, but who gives a fuck if youre giving all the major cable deals and airtime to the same 4 teams. All the money they pay in taxes is nothing compared to the coin they get off cable deals. You think NY or LA give a shit about tax thresholds?

Basically the NBA caters to 5-6 teams and thats it. All other teams are feeders teams or cannon fodder for other teams and stars to create trumped up win loss records, and fake ass stat lines ht make them look like hall of famers so they can sell more NBA packages and nike shoes and jersies.

Its really sad to be honest.

The Lakers will always find a way. As will the kicks, miami, and Chicago. Dallas is up there but Cuban makes stern pissy so it kinda hurts them.

Toronto will always be treated like shit, bottom of the league and will always have to beg players to come.

As for the players..like I said, they go where they have been taught its right to go. they go where the tv camera is. And the camera is in the cities that win, which are created by the league the puts the wins in cities that are most profitable for the subsidiarity companies that support the sport.

it isn't "sports"

Its Corporate shittiness.

sorry for the reality check, but the younger guys need to know the real reason why Howard will end up in LA. And Why deron will stay in Brooklyn, Melo, Amare, and likely Cp3 in NY, Rose in Chicago.... when the older guys fall off, Kyrie, wall, and davis are all being developed by the have not teams so when they are ready to explode, the money makers will be allowed to find ways to steal them.

100% agreed. It's horseshit to the extent that I even boycotted this past season. The only reason I stick around is for the Raptors or for the underdog teams like the Pacers in the playoffs, who built their team fairly.

Aside from that, I do love Kobe and LAL.

I don't see how LA is such a threat. They have a 38 year old point guard, 34 year old shooting guard, 32 year old power forward and Dwight Howard.

For all anyone knows, this could blow up in the Lakers faces when Nash has a stinker of a year and Kobe starts to decline.
