Hypothetically it should be. But it'll more likely be a Kobe elbow ISO or Kobe/Howard pick and roll. A Kobe/Howard pick and roll is a much better option though than a Kobe iso. Kobe's ISO% SHOULD go away down or he's just a selfish POS with the team and players he has around him. Theres absolutely no reason for him to be isoing anywhere near as much as he did last season with the weapons he has. If he plays within the flow of the offence then I think the Lakers will be unstoppable, but if he goes in to 25 shot per game Kobe they're going to run in to some problems. Their bigs should be involved in every play in some form next season or they're doing something horribly wrong.

They have Steve Nash and 4 allstars, it's gonna be a shit show. I am very interested to see how it goes.

Howard's PPG is going to go through the roof because of Nash and don't forget that Pau is probably the best passer at the 4 in the NBA.

Yeah. Dwight will get a lot of easy points. iirc, the Lakers led the league in alley oops last year. And 95+% of those alleys were from Gasol to Bynum. That was of course with Gasol playing primarily in the high post. Now they have some options as to where Gasol will be involved in the offence. But he's gonna help make Dwight's job easier for sure.

But Dwight is the best player on this team and he needs to hold down the defence first and foremost. IMO, if the Lakers win the championship, Dwight will be Finals MVP.

Barring major injuries, as always, I think this team is a lock for 60 wins.

i agree with everything you say, except to add that it all should've been happening last season!! Gasol and Bynum is about as good as you can possibly hope to have and kobe still chucked his way through amost every game i watched, even when the bigs were having a good game! Most of bynum's good games were where he was taking over by getting offensive boards.

I agree Jackson.

Gasol gives Nash more options, and D12 is more deadly and gets more attention then Gasol just hanging out weakside waiting for the o-board.

They're good enough that in the end of games they'll go to pick and roll, D12 in the post, or Kobe Iso depending on match-ups and who has it going.

I'll be interested to see how Nash and Kobe work in the backcourt. Will they work well together, or will they just take turns from one possession to the next?

The quote from Simmons about Nash being a winner in this deal, because of all the options he'll have, makes me think about how Nash has not been a guy that has had others making him look better, but rather he's been the guy that makes everyone else look better. And he's had offenses designed around him in order to do so. Is he going to have the same freedom he's had in Phoenix? Is he going to have more of a balancing act than ever before, remembering that he's had few egos recently, and a ton of possessions to make everyone happy before that. There was a reason he wanted Grant Hill by his side. Instead of Hill, he's looking at an enormous ego in Kobe, and some lunkheads in Howard and World Peace. The chemistry is not a sure thing.

And defending the perimeter is going to be an issue. Particularly against the other top teams. Yes Howard will help a ton as an anchor inside, but I'll be interested to see if that's enough to clean up what was a real problem last season with a pretty good guy in Bynum.

To me a lot comes down to Howard showing that he is truly the third best player in the league. I need to be convinced that's the case. I just don't think he's lived up to what he can be, or shown enough heart to be thought of in such lofty terms. In NBA2k12, sure. In reality? We'll see.

some good thoughts LX.

IMO howard is not the 3rd best player, very hard to say really, there's a big pack of players behind james and durantula. IMO, even tho top class Cs are slightly rarer than top class PGs, I would say CP3 is more valuable than howard, hell even Rondo, but i'll admit i'm (almost) a rondo fanboy.

Yeah, as well as this being a referendum on Howard's level of greatness, it's also going to show whether the game is going to reassert the value of the bigs to where it was when Shaq dominated, or remain focused more squarely still at the point of attack on the perimeter. The way the lane can be clogged and doubles can come on the dribble still plays into neutralizing a lot of advantages inside. That's where Dwight runs into turnovers. Now there's no doubt LA is better, but it might take a while to see that on the court. And a lot of guys might be effected by being a year older.

Howard kept a team full of sieves in the top ranks of defense for years, and Nash kept a team of mediocre talent in the top of the nba in offensive stats. In some ways, Nash is the best offensive guy in the league for a team, while Howard is the best defender in both individual and team impact. I think Kobe will behave too, because Nash is a guy he respects and he'll defer to Steve. I don't expect hero ball to disappear from his game, but it will be greatly diminished. And it will probably be more effective.

I think LA's biggest obstacle will be OKC because they can defend them one on one with perk and ibaka.

Ha. Yeah.... PHX and ORL just bending over to take it in the ass so that the Lakers can re-tool for another title run.

Not shady at all.

Nash convinced Sarver to trade him to LA. I think he owed that to Nash.

LA took advantage of having the second best center and used him in a trade for the best center. I'm not sure why some people are surprised by Dwight coming to LA. It was bound to happen once they got Nash.

My opinion, its ALL on Nash.

Howard/ Bynum, same thing, serviceable huge guys.... the rest, all the same, now you have a guy running the team that CAN run a team. Kobe has already said he is happy to let Nash take the reigns...Nash will keep Kobe in Silk underwear don't worry, everyone will be happy there.

Shit show... The Lakers are gonna be sweet to watch.

Guess he's happy to be a laker?

heh... ya thats right Dwight, run wih the "golly ge, what? me? I'm a laker?? I cant believe this could happen to me" angle. Run with it kid, the NBA and the media will help you out, nobody will remember the shit you dumped on Orlando to get there, just ask Kobe how the cover up works.

Lol Howard is a fuckin joke... "I wish Orlando a lot of success but I didn't give a shit to help them, and couldn't keep my mouth shut" Fucking clown I hope you break your back and never play again.

Ok that was a bit harsh but still.
