You're right, it wasn't the team... it was Bosh and LBJ that quit on their teams and conspired.... the LAL have done well here, kudos to none of this being shady.

I actually dislike the Lakers more than the Heat at this point. Howard is a complete tool. Love Nash but oh well, hope they get beat. Best case scenario is OKC winning the 'ship.

I don't hate any of the teams, I hate a league the caters to the Have's, and fucks over the have nots. SMall markets get fucked, everyone knows it, its brutal, but even worse, Toronto, who is the fifth most powerful franchise (lockout confirmed that), yet get treated "small market", nice isn't it, because we pay a shit load into whatever shite CBA tax agreement/ rev share or whatever it is as a franchise that makes cash. but hey, lets make sure Miami, LA and NY are doing good.

FUCK the NBA.

Bill Simmons thoughts on the trade:

Only a Lakers-bound Dwight Howard could keep the Sports Guy from writing about the Olympics - Grantland

i can tell you that i'll be watching very little NBA this year...i mean why bother

i've said it before and i'll say it again...this league is getting dangerously close to MLB...a league of "haves" and "have nots" (just as you mentioned above)

i for one am becoming very disgruntled with a league that offers no hope for my team (and many others) to at least compete on a nightly basis

We stunk last season and competed on a nightly basis and were in most of our games surprisingly. For a team that was 8th worst i have to say this team competed their asses off.

You guys are bang on...like 2, 3 years ago....Raptors vs Bobcats...Raptors/Pistons...the match-ups just kept coming...thriller after thriller, I'm like..."Honey, I'm sorry but the NBA has another killer match-up, they just won't give me a day off to take you out" BUT NOW!!! Wow what horrible horrible basketball we have coming our way.

I mean I could care less if their are like teams with amazing players who get a full season to refine their craft and create chemistry the redeem team could only dream of.

I'm going to dream of past seasons where the Raptors had as good a chance as any team to pull out the ship'. Those were the days. The days when the Raptors/Bucks match-up was a meaningful game.

Bang-on guys. Basketball is going to suffer.

Lakers/Heat. Lakers/OKC Heat/Celts..Heat/Nets.........might as well play the games at 3 in the morning. Who is going to tune in for that nonsense.

I'm excited about the coming year. The demolishing by 6-8 teams will do to the others. The thrillers against the top teams. Watching a Gonzaga type Cinderella story. Seeing 'shoe ins' fail and injuries turning the tide. I'm stoked. I'm getting too old to be cynical - I just love the game and to me parity has taken the excitement out.

For one, the Lakers actually traded assets back to get their players, they didn't just get them for free.

You're so predictable it's sad

The league (NHL) is set up so that everyone has a legit chance...hard cap creates parity across the board....Leafs lose because of fucking terrible management...and i've gone on record saying that i hope there is another strike to get rid of some of the problems with the current contract...i want MORE parity for the league
The most successful/competitive league in sports is the NFL....the NHL is getting closer to that everyday
The NBA is going in the opposite direction...getting closer and closer to MLB everyday

Take your fucking blinders off

OK!

Take yours off first. The NHL is a joke!

BTW, you're just as predictable on this subject.

the NHL is a lot more competitive than the NBA. every team has made the playoffs in the past 4-5 years (except the leafs ). hopeless franchises like Chicago, Nashville and Phoenix were threats to win the title, or won. teams that were in the finals dropped quickly (Canes, Sens, Oilers)
