Well player could start playing like shit, but I'm not saying Rondo could force Boston to screw themselves. I mean he could request specific trade like Melo did. Denver still got the best out of it

Now do you automatically get JR Smith and his little brother if you trade for Melo? Is there any way to refuse the services of JR Smith if you just want Melo on your team?

Omer Asik struggles with recovery from knee injury

The Rockets were not only still without center Omer Asik – and will not have him for the immediate future at least – they were also still unsure why he has been unable to make improvement from his injury.

Asik has repeatedly been able to make strides and greatly increase workouts, but each time he seems close to being able to return, the swelling in his knee returns. The Rockets sent him for the more detailed MRI last week, but it showed no damage to the knee. They have sent those test results to another expert, hoping to get a better idea of why the problem remains so persistent.

Asik initially went out after a bruised thigh Dec. 2. Swelling developed in his knee soon after, forcing him to miss the next 11 games, an absence made an even greater issue with backup center Greg Smith also out.

He had some swelling again in his knee,” McHale said. “It seems like he amps it up to a certain level and it swells up again. They’re still trying to figure out what’s causing that swelling when he gets up to a certain level of activity. They MRI, they sent it out again for certain people to look at again. His symptoms are not going the way the doctors think they should be.

McHale said Smith has similarly struggled to come back, leaving Saturday’s game after four minutes. He has been out the past two games with no timetable on his return.

“He seems like he’s another guy that gets 95 yards down the field, you think he’s going to be fine and all of a sudden, he falls back,” McHale said.
That probably puts Asik offers on hold for a while. He had knee issues before the NBA too. Teams will be cautious.

I didn't even know he was injured? I thought he was just stuck in trade limbo.

Not really sure why Memphis is trading for a backup SG on an MLE deal for the next 2 years...

The Houston Rockets have put 7-foot forward/center Donatas Motiejunas on the trading block, and have called teams around the league to find a better situation for the second-year player out of Lithuania.

Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the Rockets' intent of moving Motiejunas on Tuesday evening, a day after the team sent him down to D-League affiliate Rio Grande Valley.

Hopefully he will get some playing time elsewhere, he have all the tools to be a productive 20-25 mpg big man in this league.

Pelicans Searching For Trade Of Eric Gordon

The New Orleans Pelicans are actively searching for a trade of Eric Gordon.

The Pelicans have made contact with several teams on Gordon and have devised three-team trade scenarios.

The Pelicans began seeking a trade of Gordon in the offseason following the acquisitions of Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans.

Gordon has been healthy this season, but his production hasn't matched the $30 million he is owed over the next two seasons.

“He has been healthy and he has played better,” one league executive told Sporting News. “But he is a still a long way from living up to what you have to pay him. His contract is still the big reason they are not able to do anything with him at this point.”
