PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden was taken off the court on a stretcher after an apparent knee injury in the first quarter of the Trail Blazers' game against the Houston Rockets on Saturday night.

Oden dropped to the floor clutching his left knee after colliding with a driving Aaron Brooks with 5:45 remaining in the first quarter.

Oden stayed on the ground for about 5 minutes while being attended to by trainers. He never stood up under his own power before being carted off.

The No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA draft, Oden missed the entire 2007-08 season after undergoing microfracture surgery on his right knee. The 7-footer is averaging 11.7 points and 8.8 rebounds this season.

If Oden had guaranteed health so far Id trade Bosh for him straight up. Dudes been beastly this year and is only getting better. Hes top 3 in terms of keeping people from scoring in the paint easily.

Too bad he just cant catch a break.

I know it's kinda insolent, but Oden's shortcomings make me feel better about our #1 pick..That being said, he seems like a very genuine dude, and I hope his career isn't defined by injuries.

Apparantley he's out for the season

Poor Blazer fans. This is the THIRD time a potential dynasty has been screwed over by their top 2 pick C becoming an injury case. They're snakebitten

no kneebrace?

The trainers know he has to be cautious with his knee so give them a little more support than going bare.

That sucks. Poor guy.

He's averaging almost a double double ... 60%FG and is 2nd in the NBA in blocks while playing only 24minutes per game. Looked like his stock was on rise again.
