Nuggets say Karl will coach again next year

The Denver Nuggets said Saturday night that George Karl will be the coach of the team again next season, regardless of what happens in the rest of their series with the Lakers.
"The question doesn’t even merit a response,’’ said Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien when asked if there’s a chance Karl might not be back. In addition, a source close to the situation stressed Karl will be Denver’s coach next year regardless of what happens the rest of this series. But until we hear it from owner Stan Kroenke, consider Karl to still be on the hot seat after Saturday's lackluster performance.

Hmmm .... I like Karl personally, so I think they might have to shop someone like Iverson this summer in order to improve in other departments on this team, primarily defense.

Karl is a bad coach that always gets into it with his star players. His teams never win when it matters either.

Denvers in big trouble with Melo being as selfish as he is. Theyre gonna need to bring in a true PG to set that asshole straight. Hes such a fucking blackhole on offence it kills their teams energy come playoff time.

Obviously thats not their #1 problem, but youre not gonna get any defence from this group of guys even if they got a new coach because all of them are offensive minded players who are immature. They need to have a bit of a blowup in the offseason.

I've disliked Karl since he was coaching the Sonics.

He's an ass munch.

IMO Denver's attitude problem is more from the players themselves than Karl being too loose. I thought Karl had a quote once where he told Pop that he "doesn't coach in the NBA", with Pop's disciplined squeaky clean group, while Denver has some serious serious ego problem players on their team that makes it turmoil every day. To be honest before this announcement I thought he might just quit after this playoff series.

Nuggets probably have to blow up. Bill Simmons had a good trade suggestion the other day if Memphis gets the #2 pick and wants Rose, they could trade Melo for Conley, Miller, Warrick (or maybe Gay gets thrown in there). Memphis would have to jump at that, having their college hero Rose playing with Melo suddenly solves their attendance problem and they might not be bad either. Not sure if the Nuggets take it though.

Carmelo upset with coach

It's obvious that George Karl and Carmelo Anthony, who've maintained an uneasy peace since last year, have broken the truce. Anthony has snapped. Their relationship won't survive. One or the other, or both, will be gone. On the bench in the fourth quarter Anthony repeatedly screamed at Karl: "Don't just sit there!" Later Anthony spewed like Regan in "The Exorcist": "We're not just losing. We're getting the (expletive) beat out of us. It's about us giving up as a whole. We quit . . . everybody from the players to the coaches. There's no way I can lay down on my team the way we laid down (Saturday afternoon). . . . I'm surprised at how we laid down like that. In my five years (with the Nuggets), that's the first time I've ever felt like this."

There is no other player who disturbs me more than Carmelo Anthony. I've always felt he's been overrated and I maintain that stance.
