Hornets NO open to trading Eric Gordon

Quote:
The New Orleans Hornets have shown a willingness to engage in talks for Eric Gordon, according to a rival executive.

Gordon's agent, Rob Pelinka, has been more than open to the idea of a trade for his client as well.

Gordon signed with the Phoenix Suns last summer and his comments after the Hornets matched the offer sheet suggested that he was upset about the situation.

"You never know what could happen," Gordon said by phone when asked if he now sees New Orleans as the long-term spot for him. "The main thing right now is to really focus on this team. After thinking about my injuries and everything, everything is year by year with me. I have to focus on this year. I don't know what's going to happen. You never know what's going to happen."

He'd prolly fit great with the T-Wolves or Pacers.

Ha, good luck with trading him, you'll need it. It was a mistake to seek him badly this summer, now you shall pay

I mean no one really wants Gordon that much to give away what Hornets expect to get for him. He's like half Oden with huge contract

He's 24 and the last two years was averaging 20+. Your right going to be near impossible to get rid of him.

Yeah, his injuries are a real concern. I loved him during his last year with the Clippers; it's too bad his knees are questionable. His upside is so high, though, that I think the Hornets will be able to get a valuable piece or decent pick(s) for him. It just might not be what they expect, as Zalgiris is suggesting.

If you go to the original article linked by RealGM, they mention how the Hornets are above .500 with him in the lineup. I'm going to elaborate on that...

2010-11 Clippers:
With Gordon: 25-31
Without him: 7-19

2012 Hornets:
With Gordon: 6-3

2012-13 Hornets:
With Gordon: 10-7
Without him: 7-26

If he can have a good rest of the season with no injury they could definitely get something good for him.

Given that Phoenix was willing to sign him to the same contract last summer when his knees still were not 100%, I would guess that's at least one trade option for the Hornets. Phoenix has a few extra picks saved up from trades, although they will only be middle to late 1sts.

Gortat + 2 of those late 1sts

I'd guess something like that will be the floor value for offers.

Love his game. But yeah, very risky acquisition. I expect him to age poorly. He's already undersized, and given nature of these injuries, his explosiveness should decline faster than normal. He has solid handles and an efficient stroke, which will make him good, but not max good.

I know that he is really injury prone, and hasnt been able to stay healthy sine hes entered the league. But he's a really good offensive player and I think he would do well in a Raptors uni if healthy.

I was thinking what if it was DD for Gordon +
Will be difficult to match salaries though
