Nets The Nets waiting till 2011 to sign

The nets might not sign anyone in 2010 despite leading the NBA in cap space, they might go for Carmelo Anthony in 2011 season.

No way is that Russian hot shot who bought the Nets gonna sit around for his first offseason.
They might do that if absolutely none of the good 2010 free agents wants to sign with them though.

Welcome to RF.
Im sure someone more important will welcome you shortly lol.

They've got a core of Harris, Lee, Lopez, and Williams signed through to 2012. Suppose they get a high draft pick this year, then a mid-to-high draft pick in 2011; if they can manage the salaries appropriately for next year, they would have a heck of a good core and lots of room under the cap to build a very strong team for 2011-2012.

Then in 2012, they could re-sign Lopez and Lee, and sign a role player for the MLE. They'd still have Harris, Williams, the 2010 pick, the 2011 pick, and whoever they signed in 2011 with all the cap space.

However, one has to wonder: can the organization really afford to keep losing for that long?

NJ is awful in attendence win or lose, so i don't think it makes much of a difference if they were to wait an extra year.

Harris/Lee/Lopez is a shit core. Just thought i'd let you know. Calderon and Bargnani are no good... but Calderon/Bosh/Bargnani is a better core.

I think cap space should be spent to sign players who fit what your want to do. It shouldn't be spent just because you have it. With that said, this fee agent class has the potential to be deep and there should be free agents available who fit the Nets system... I think sitting on a large amount of cap space while the team loses, only to have Melo reject the Nets offer which could be $30M less than the Nuggets offer is a tough sell to the Nets fans. Thorn better be careful with this.

Only way Melo goes to the nets is if they are in brooklyn in a new arena ... which won't happen. Nets really have a better shot joing the devils in newark.

Who would give up max money to go to New jersey when Kidd couldn't even sell out for them in his prime.
