Default Nets Hawks discussing Joe Johnson trade

The Nets and Hawks are discussing a trade centered around Joe Johnson, according to sources.

Brooklyn would pair Johnson with a re-signed Deron Williams.

With no deal is close to completion, sources say the teams are discussing trade on multiple fronts.

Trading for Johnson would likely eliminate the Nets from their pursuit of Howard.

For Atlanta, trading Johnson would effectively be a salary dump of his $90 million over the next four years.

The Nets would have to piece together several contracts, including those of Jordan Farmar, who opted into the final $4.2 million year of his deal on Saturday, Anthony Morrow, Johan Petro and a sign-and-trade with one of the Nets' free agents to make the exchange of salaries work for Johnson’s contract.

Johnson is a very good player, but he's extremely overpaid (over $22.5M on average left on his deal). He's better as the #2 option on a team as oppose to being the #1 guy, which he has been in Atlanta. The other issue with Johnson is that he doesn't move the ball enough. Too enough he's a black hole on offence, but that might change if he's not asked to be the lead guy.

Billy King is a very very stupid GM. If plan A doesn't work with Dwight, he's going to go to plan B and ruin the Nets cap and send them in to treadmill purgatory. Great plan.

The cost (contract), him just turning 31, combined with the duration of his contract..... NO WAY!

That would be a great move, especially with Deron. IMO a great 1-2. Probably won't happen with JJ in the mix - unless they use that massive contract and pick(s) to get Dwight ( their contracts are almost identical)

Don't think JJ will keep Deron in town.

He will take up a ton of their cap room AND they'll have to send back something on top of that.

I really think it's Dwight or bust for BK.

if the nets were patient and waited for deron williams now they could have stock piled prospects

they could have had favors, kanter, and lillard to trade for howard, and could of out right signed deron williams now,

not only that deron williams has had a couple of years with that organisation, maybe he might leave just they've shown terrible judgement

I really, really hope Deron goes somewhere else and they can't manage to trade for Dwight. They've mismanaged the team into the shitty spot they're in and moving to Brooklyn shouldn't make it up for all the parties involved. If they do sign him or him and Dwight or something stupid I hope they blow out their knees.
