NBA Will Investigate Jay-Z's Postgame Celebration With Kentucky

Really? It was a celebration party? come on...

How can it violate anything? it cant be recruitment because no one knows what # the nets are selecting at... and its not recruitment because there the ones selecting no? :confused2:

The NBA will investigate Jay-Zís visit with the Kentucky basketball team after Sundayís 76-69 win against North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament East Regional Final, reports CBSSports.comís Ken Berger.

Jay-Z, rapper and part-owner of the New Jersey Nets, might have violated NBA rules because Kentucky has multiple potential first-round draft picks on its roster.

Berger equates the incident to Celtics GM Danny Ainge sitting with Kevin Durant's mother during the 2007 Big 12 tournament. Ainge and the Celtics were fined $30,000 for the infraction.

bet he never read the rules

carp 03-30-2011 05:23 PM

would anyone really question whether this is wrong? Dude is a part owner of an NBA franchise... of course it's wrong.

MISAM38 03-30-2011 05:53 PM

Oviously it was a recruitment, Jay-z wouldnt be there if it had anything not do with basketball.

LightsOut 03-30-2011 06:30 PM

even tho it may go against the rules it's really stupid. How do you recruit a player that has no power in choosing where he wants to be (without getting a bad rep).

MISAM38 03-30-2011 06:33 PM

Demand a trade to the NEts??? who knows they could pull a Steve Francis. Jay-z aint running Kentucky tnite.

the question is does the nba really give a fuck? dude owns like 1.5% of the team

MISAM38 04-01-2011 01:24 AM

well i can tell u now that jay-z definetly has more than 99 problems, and i can also assure that a bitch is not one of them

Meh, if we're talking about picks late in the 1st round, then maybe I could see a reason for concern. You could have a situation where a player refuses to workout for particular teams pre-draft in order to decrease the liklihood of them picking him (and thus give him a better chance at getting picked by the Nets). Later in the 1st round, teams mgiht care more about seeing players workout, since the picks aren't as clear cut. But I doubt that's the case here. This was probably nothing more than Jay-Z hanging out with some ballers. They need to investigate for the sake of professionalism and integrity, even though there probably isn't any fire or smoke.

The Nets don't even have a first round pick.

I believe they own the Lakers pick, which they acquired via the Vujacic trade.
