NBA schedule....fair?

Why are all the top tier teams getting soft schedules to start the season

LA Lakers- 17 of first 21 games @ home

Celtics- 9 raod games / 12 home games (incl: NJ, NY,Indy,GS,Min, Phily,NO)

Orlando- 10 road games/ 11 home games (incl: NJ, NY,GS, Clips,Heat,Phily, Bucks)

Cavs- 9 road games /12 home games (Inc: Tor,Min, Char,Wiz,Ind, Phily,GS,NY)

Teams with the most road games:

1. Toronto 13 games on the road/ 9 home games (Inc: Suns,Dallas, SA,Den, Utah,Orlando, Cleveland)

2. Memphis Memphis 12 road games/ 9 home games( Inc: Denver, Lakers,Suns,Utah,Houston)

Why is it that the best teams in the league get the much easier schedule the first month of the season?? Should they not be the ones tested. Is it that they've earned the easier schedule? I know it evens out in the end but to me it seems a little setup,no?

No. I said it as soon as i saw raps schedule. The nba is purposely screwing the raps. They are doing what they can to make sure the raps fail so bosh can leave for the states and possibly a bigger market, which means more $ for them.

They raptors have to navigate around the leaves schedule, both play ACC. some years it probably helps us, and some years it probably hurts us.

Torontosaurus 12-05-2009 09:39 PM

They want their top brand names to have it easy right from the start so they can build chemistry before taking the road games, while teams like Raps have to grind their way thru.

Depends on how you look at it. The Lakers recently complained that they have too many home games at the start of the season and will have to play on the road a lot at the end of the season when the games may be more important and/or fatigue/injuries begin to set in.

Lakers have the clips and kings.

Mavs have the stars

etc. etc. etc.

Most NBA arena's are busy. You don't think MSG is packed to the nines?

Its alot of friggin games travelling a big piece of land in north america. The schedule is just what it is. Busy but in theory balanced.

If you wanna talk about unfair just go to MLB

Its good you start the season out with a fairly tough sched, because come later in the year when we've finally got our chemistry at a high and making our push towards a high seed hopefully, we'll be playing shit teams, whereas the teams you talk about have a very tough JAN/FEB and APR in most cases.

good thing is LA is going to have to go on the road from now on

24 home games, 37 road in the next 61

Oh come on, you can just as easily spin it like this,

The NBA favors the Raptors because they knew they were going to have a lot of new faces on the team so they put them opn the road against harder teams for the start to get those out of the way early. Win or lose, they will build team unity by being on the road, as well, they can spend time to gel. Once the stretch is done, and they are gelled, and they are ready to go, the schedule will ease up just in time and they will cruise into the playoffs a fine tuned machine.
