Well, not sure if this is just lip service but it's a start...

Quote:
Mark Cuban has been pushing for the league to provide more transparency to teams on officials since he bought the Mavericks in 2000 and now he’s getting it — bi-weekly reports on blown calls
Quote:
“I think he’s taken some great steps on the officiating,” Cuban said. “There’s been more changes in 15 days, or whatever it is, than I saw in 14 years.”

Cuban then divulged the most significant of those changes: The league is now sending its teams regular reports on blown calls by the referees. It’s one of the first steps in Silver’s push for greater transparency….

“So I like what he’s doing there,” Cuban said.
Quote:
Beck notes these reports are not new — the NBA tracks and grades its referees (and yes, even fines them at times) — but they had been in the hands of a few at the league office before and that was it. Now teams are getting those reports in their inbox. How, or even if, that changes officiating around the league remains to be seen.

The big difference between Silver and David Stern is not broad picture concepts but rather style — Silver is more of a consensus builder, a believer in the free flow of information and ideas. Stern was much more the dictator, and like all dictators he wanted to control the flow of information.

That doesn’t mean sweeping changes in the product or even how things are done, but it does mean more discussion about changes. That’s a good thing.

I think it's stupid. I don't see what purpose this serves.

Well, i hope it creates dialogue between teams and the League when it comes to efficiating. With actual reports and acknowledgement on paper by both sides about the issues rather then a specific team complaining about a certain play a couple times per year. Doubt it does a whole lot but i hope i'm wrong and that it starts to get the discussion going on the refs in this league.

now instead of broadcasting public apology notes, Silver will issue dozens of personal apology notess!

but it's a good start, and nice to see where silver is going with the transparent style.

it's exactly what he wants you to think..(i've been watching too much tv ._.)

What sort of Dialogue? I don't get it.

There is 48 minutes of dialogue every game between coaches and officials and players and officials. The coaches and players don't stop manipulating and bitching the entire time. They get way to many explanations as it is.

The only usefulness I see in this dialogue, is that asshat coaches can use it to further manipulate the officials. They can be in their ear all game now about how the messed up the last game they officiated, they know it, and they know the official knows it and they'll use it to their advantage.

There is nothing wrong with the officiating. The best teams are all at the top of the standings and the worst teams are all at the bottom.
