NBA lockout -- research project

Hello,

I am working on a group project for my consumer behavior class in college.
We are wondering how the NBA lockout affected consumer's behaviors.

Please answer this question: Overall, how did the NBA lockout affect your purchasing decisions? Ex) Attending games, buying merchandise, and watching games on TV?

- Thanks -

It didn't. The product was good in 2010-11 & promised to be good in 2011-12

I attended no games last year, due to the local "product" sucking. This year I attended two games, in spite of it still sucking, although both times the tix were gifted.

I watched as many, if not more games that were available on TV.

It didn't. Neither of those levels have changed.

nothing changed. i watched every game i could on tv, and didn't plan on going to a game live this season with or without a lockout.

side note: our attendance is up a tiny bit this season :police:

I'm not sure we're typical consumers. Nor were we the reason the two sides settled. The concern was over the so-so fans. And there wasn't going to be a big change in behavior to be expected unless the season was cancelled. As things stand, the extra noise probably helped increase interest overall.

Gosh darn NBA Lockout made the Blazers starting guards tubby.

Look at our record, we suck, Coach got fired, we were supposed to be contenders!

The Lockout had zero effect on my purchasing .

It didn't affect it for me.

I wasn't planning on going to any games and i was just going to casually/occasionally watch them on TV lockout or no lock out due to the fact that this was always going to be a rebuild year. I don't care too much when the games are essentially meaningless.

Blazers stink so bad, I went to the mall and bought a Blue Jays hat, even though the Blazers gear was marked down.

It didn't affect my purchasing decisions. However, the threat of no NBA season, and the shortened season (with ten games a night) has me watching more games on TV than ever.

I already think the NBA is too over priced for what they offer locally. You need a certain kind of attitude with disposable income and I don't really have any these days.

Just wondering how this counts as research? As an educator I'd be pretty dubious over results coming from this sort of methodology. How about using a digital recording device, getting some consent forms outlining the scope and rationale for your study and (if you live in the GTA) go to a Raptors game and stand outside gate one and tally "results" that way? Get some viewpoints that can expand on your research question and provide some direction for further study.

i haven't watched a full 48 minutes of basketball since Game 6 of the finals. i don't love the NBA any less but because of the rebuilding i haven't been as engaged in the raptors which has led to me being less engaged in the NBA in general this year. the lockout hasn't really had much to do with it.
