This is not only the championship, it's also the battle to wear the crown as best player in the NBA.

I think either Cavs win in 5, or GS wins in 5.

I think one style will trump the other pretty much from the get-go. I'm kind of torn, but I think the simplicity of LBJ's post game will trump anything the Splash brother can throw in on the other end.

Key factors:

Clev- Seasoned determined LBJ. Will keep team on track.

GSW: Has the better players but not the experience. Even LBJ went through an early learning period stretch. But GSW has never looked scared.

Tough series to call before the games. So many intangibles could swing this series. Who gets hot? Who gets lost?

I have GSW in 7 only because that would be an epic finish. :bigbaby:

I gotta go with my pick from october - the Cavs. But really, it's pointless considering Dwight Howard is the champion.

Warriors' Thompson diagnosed with concussion | NBA.com

Quote:
The initial hit caused Klay Thompson plenty of pain. The final diagnosis delivered another blow to him and the Golden State Warriors as they prepare for the NBA Finals.

Two days after he got kneed in the head by Houston's Trevor Ariza, the Warriors said Friday that Thompson has a concussion and will not return to practice until he is symptom free.

The All-Star guard went through neurological tests that confirmed the concussion. He was injured in the fourth quarter of Golden State's 104-90 win over the Rockets in the Western Conference finals clincher Wednesday night.

The NBA Finals start Thursday against Cleveland. And while the Warriors are optimistic Thompson will be cleared before then, he must pass through the league's concussion protocol first.

"This break has turned out to be good for us," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after Friday's practice. "And maybe good for Cleveland, too, because they've got some injuries. It's just something we've got to work through and we'll see how it goes."

Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving has been slowed by knee tendinitis and a sore foot, and four-time NBA MVP LeBron James has been banged up as well.

But neither of those injuries seems as serious as the one the Warriors are facing now.

Thompson was at the team's facility Friday but did not participate in the workout. The Warriors will practice again Saturday and take Sunday off.

Kerr said he's not concerned about Thompson staying sharp.

"Klay picks up his rhythm very quickly," Kerr said.

It's unclear how long Thompson could be away from the court - and that's the concern for the Warriors.

The NBA's concussion policy requires players to pass a series of steps without experiencing symptoms before they can return. That starts with riding a stationary bike and progresses to jogging, agility work and non-contact team drills, according to the league. Players must start over if they experience any symptoms.

Even though Trevor Ariza tried to kill the Warriors backcourt, I still think the Warriors will win.

I think gsw will manage to at least force James to be inefficient and give too many TOs, as he has in a few games in this playoffs.

I also think curry will quite easily win the scoring battle with Irving.

Hard to ever predict the finals with absolute confidence but I'm going for gsw in 6.

LeBron is a top 10 player of all time and him bringing a title to Cleaveland after returning home to North East Ohio is a cute little ending to the story BUT I get irritated by the Jordan comparisons and I know many are salivating at the opportunity to better their argument if he wins again, so I'm rooting for Warriors.

I think Golden State is a better team with no weaknesses. On any given night they can have 3 players score 20+ or 2 score 30+. They don't need to stop LeBron (who hasn't been shooting good in the playoffs anyway),they just have to make sure his supporting cast is kept in check.

I like Warriors in 5 genuinely, winning all their home games and one in Cleveland.

Win or lose, LBJ is still the best in the NBA dude, hes got to the finals yearly for a while now. Getting there once and winning once doesnt make Curry the best in the NBA all of a sudden.

While I agree with your conclusion, your premise ignores the fact that they play in 2 very different conferences. Put LeBron in the west and I don't know if he gets to the finals as often as he has.

Even though I think it will be very, very difficult for the Warriors to win without Thompson, and don't be surprised if he doesn't play a single game in the finals, I still want them to win. I would loathe to see LeBron win it all in his first year back. Not to mention it would guarantee Love returning and/or them signing other marquee free agents.

Kevin Love Expects To Remain With Cavs, Return From Shoulder Injury For Opener
MAY 31, 2015 2:44 PM

Kevin Love said he will suit up for the Cleveland Cavaliers next season.

Love is recovering from a shoulder injury that required season-ending surgery.

"I truly expect to be suiting up for Game 1," Love said.

Love can opt out of his contract for the 2015-16 season.

True, but that's a hypothetical, its impossible to know something like that. But I agree that he wouldn't have made it year after year, but it all depends on what team he'd end up on and whos around em. Again, a lot of hypotheticals.

It's not about getting to the finals and winning once. Curry all year has proven unstoppable by being able to hit shots, under duress, that nobody in the NBA can hit. He has been the most clutch, and the most unstoppable player in the NBA. That's why he is the MVP.

If he can lead his team to victory against Lebron, having similar games where their simply isn't an answer to defending him, he takes the crown.

It's hard for me to envision any scenario where Golden State beats the Cavs, without Curry making more clutch plays, and impacting the game more than Lebron.

Doesn't matter what was done in the past, Lebron making 5 straight final appearances etc. I'm not talking about best career, I'm talking about best player, now.

So the hell with Lebron sweeping the #1 team in the east without its 2 best players, and the hell with everything he's done in his career, one season makes Curry the best in the NBA, gotcha. Sorry bud, It's Lebron win or lose
