Default NBA Draft 2013- Predictions Thread

It's always funny when certain posters claim that they KNEW a certain player would break out or bust, year(s) after they get drafted, without there being any proof behind their statement that before the draft they became a San Antonio Spurs scout and called it.

I'm going to make this an annual thread, so we can look back year(s) from now and see who the geniuses are, and of course, the posters who failed miserably in their predictions. So without further ado, copy, paste, and fill out your predictions any time before preseason begins(and yes, I took some of these categories from SLAM).

Rookie season ONLY predictions. Most likely to:

Average the most points- Ben Mclemore(SAC)
Average the most assists- Trey Burke(UTA)
Average the most rebounds- Cody Zeller(CHA)
Unfairly get bench splinters- Alex Len(NOH)
Lead the rookies in turnovers- Trey Burke(UTA)
Lead the rookies in blocks- Nerlens Noel(PHI)
Be rookie of the year- Ben Mclemore(SAC)
Fade into obscurity- Shabazz Muhammad(MIN)

Career Predictions :

Best player from the 2013 draft- Victor Oladipo
Biggest steal in the 1st round- Dennis Schroeder
Biggest steal in the 2nd round- Jamaal Franklin
Top 3 players in the draft- Victor Oladipo, Dennis Schroeder, Anthony Bennett
Biggest bust- Otto Porter
Your top 3 busts- Otto Porter, CJ McCollum, Michael Carter Williams
Best PG in the draft- Dennis Schroeder
Best SG in the draft- Victor Oladipo
Best SF in the draft- Otto Porter(he'll be a solid player, but a bust at 3)
Best PF in the draft- Anthony Bennett
Best C in the draft- Alex Len

CJ McCollum

Because if the Blazers find a new home for Wesley Matthews, we could see Portland having back to back Rookies of the Year. I was surprised to see Cj drop all the way to #10. This made it an easy day for our front office. They had big plans to move up in the draft and get CJ, but they didn't have to do anything. They just had to push the draft button.

The point of the thread was to fill out the different categories, not just pump up one player from your team, or list a players name. I've cut out my explanation, so hopefully future posters understand the thread topic.

The poll -- if i understand correctly it's just next year (ROY), or full career?

I like him but defense would be ugly right now.

I think he should come off the bench, unless the Blazers are into tanking (which I hope they aren't, I think they need to target good centers and try to compete).

I loved that pick for the Blazers, btw.

I'm hoping all of the posters who were so excited to do the mock draft also make their picks here, since they thought they were so in tune with what was going to happen, and in judging the players overall. I'm most looking forward to Claudius/gizzle/SJ/Bill/LX/Jeffs picks. We shall see.

Actually that seems like a great pick. I haven't thought of Burke when I was answering that question.

He's going to get huge minutes right away.
He should be pretty solid. He'll be a major upgrade over their latest point guards just because those point guards sucked.
And I think if Jefferson/Millsap leaves, the Jazz will still be a decent team, mainly because they have some really good players who are underused right now; but the media might choose to give most of that credit to Burke.

I can definitely see Burke becoming the ROY and then ending up as the 10th best player in the draft in the long run.

Woah, woah, woah, I wouldn't say I thought I was in tune. I will readily admit that evaluating pre-NBA prospects is suuuuuuuper hard and I don't pretend to be particularly good at it. I just think it's fun to do it. It's much easier to see what a player offers when they're put up against actual NBA talent within the NBA game. There are some huge differences, which is why some guys, like your boy CP3, was an even better NBA player than college player. I doubt I ever would have known CP3 would be the best player in that draft, but in hindsight it makes a lot of sense.

But I will definitely give this some thought and fill it out soon. Good idea.

It's always a crapshoot. The best you can do is predict the highest odds and take a poker guess.

Athleticism, work ethic, effort on the floor, skill level, youth, health, personality, and most importantly the player's new situation and coaching. Some of these we can easily see on the tape, but there's still a lot of guesswork.

Even then it's a wild shot.. Look at DeMar, he seems to have most of the things you mentioned, yet no one is too sad over all the trade talk regarding him..

And then you look at last years draft, and how Lillard played in the summer league, yet most believed Davis was gonna come in and just get handed the ROY tittle. Oh and the 2011 when people where screaming it's moronic to pic Val over guys like Kemba and Bismac..

This draft has a whole lot a of question marks but it only makes it that much more fun imo.
