Default NBA to become more Star oriented

Okay I know it is already but it will get worse

"What might be the eventual result of this desperate cost cutting?

More and more teams will try to limit their payrolls by paying humongous salaries to only their top six or seven players. The rest of the roster will be filled with relatively low-priced scrubs, undrafted free agents, and almost washed-up veterans who are unable to attract more lucrative contracts from foreign teams.

In the NBA, this will inevitably lead to a diminishment of the overall talent level, and increasingly sloppy and incompetent play. Accordingly, the NBA publicity machine will work overtime to promote its superstars, and the referees will take pains to keep these superstars in the game and on the foul line.

In other words, the game that we love will never be the same."

When most of the 'stars' go down with injuries NBA will become d-league with high ticket prices and TV contract.

remember opposing players can't foul stars.

You'll see LeBron on the line 20+ times just like the NYC game; I felt like he was on the line after every possession in the second half

They don't need to be fouled... just the grind of the long NBA season will get them.

They'll take scheduled vacations like Bosh and Caldy already do

LeBron will take one week off, then it will be Wade's turn, then Kobe and so on

Theyre looking at it the wrong way.

This can only decrease teams giving longterm deals to middle of the pack guys and big money deals to near allstar guys. Thisll reduce salary but help teams in the longrun and be able to build in season with the cap space they have from not signing a Jason Kapono to a 4 year deal after he has 1 good year for example.

I don't think the salary cap will decrease, but I think it will stay at $72 mil for a couple years.

The NBA makes a majority of their money with TV contacts and correct me if I'm wrong they're still on for at least 2 years. It depends on gate/merchandising revenue, if it doesn't slip past 5-10% I think it'll stay the same.

I think their assumptions are very flawed. Where will all the good mid-level players go? The European leagues don't have the cash to support the influx of all that talent. They make very strong assertions based on a hunch, and nothing else.

It's the same problem in all the other sports, as well, by the way. Every league is under a bit of a cash crunch, and will be going forward for the next couple of years as well.
