Is it just me or was the NBA exponentially more exciting back then? Maybe it's just my childhood memories getting to me. Yao, Nash on dallas, Sacramento, touched me the most. Miss those days. Do you guys remember Finley?!:police:

Who doesnt rmb Finley with thoes days with the Mavs! I used to rmb the playoffs being really exciting as well especially in the west with Portland, Lakers, Kings and Spurs

i remember Shaq owning my hero Sabonis, and of course one of the most amazing teams to ever happen in nba - The Kings.

The Kings with Webber, Divac, Stojakovic, Christie and Bibby were beast. And also the emergence of the Pistons too when they won the title over the Lakers with Shaq, Malone, Kobe and Payton. Funny thing after that lost, I think Jacskon retired then came back, and this past year when they lost to the Mavs he retired again. And there were talks he might come back. Seems like everytime he loses in the finals he needs to retire to recover himself Lol

Damn crooked officials, Blazers almost made a run at it.

or rather waits until the lakers become strong again and win another chamoionship. The guy's an opportunist.

JDMtors 03-25-2012 06:49 PM

Well every team he coached had either a MJ or Kobe and were dynasties

I cried a little...

What's missing now is that for the most part, superstars were pitted against each other. There would be some mingling, but everyone had their own camp and their own team.

JDMtors 03-26-2012 08:50 PM

For sure there werent 3 superstars contacting each other to team up and make a dynasty like there are now

bet clipper fans would like to forget the 2000s

Ball Don't Lie 03-27-2012 12:54 AM

The 2000s were great as the early 2000s is when I really started getting in to ball, but todays game just has a better flow and ball movement overall. The early 2000s were better in terms of individual matchups because there was a lot more iso ball as it was early in the new zone age where most teams didnt scheme to zone a side of the floor that the star was on and play these crazy defences they play nowadays so you saw Tmac and Iverson go at it everytime down. Most teams were still running the same stuff pre zone implimentation days as they did after for a few years anyway then things started to change and the defences became more active and more about covering an area of the floor.

The great teams back then though were probably more fun to watch though just because they're some of the better teams built in the last 20 years. The 2001 Lakers especially were unbelieveable. My favorite team though was the Kings. Their offensive system was pure magic. Bibby Christie Peja Webber and Divac with their tough gritty bench with Jackson and an aggressive Turkoglu, just by far the most fun team ever to watch for me anyways. Their high post offence was the best run offence ever with the pieces they had, everything just clicked and they were so smooth and seemed to always make the right, and great, passes. Its just too bad the refs robbed them of what was rightfully theirs, the title.
